Brawl Report 11 - Three in a Row or Back to Zero?

Splinterlands

This is my 11th brawl report that I have with KingsHaven and its been actually 2 months since my first brawl report.

The restrictions on my brawl are again Novice level battle using only Chaos Legion units. Each battle are also given some random rulesets and mana so we have to quickly decide on what units to use and where to place them on the fly. Details of these rulesets descriptions can be found here.

I have to fight 8 battles this time round which indicate the guilds' participation rate is much higher in this brawl. Also more than half of our opponents are in the top 300 this time round so this is definitely not an easy brawl group as compared to the previous 2 which we came in first.

Battle 1 - Rulesets Explosive Weaponry + Odd Ones Out (58 Mana): WIN
Battle 1.jpg
Once again I went with the Water Summoner because it is explosive weaponry and I want the extra speed. I then went with Alvar instead of DiemonShark as Alvar has void armor so he can protect against magic attack as well. I also added Hellondale so she can revive Alvar back with full shield when he falls in battle. I also added the gladitor, Isgald Vorst, for his opportunity ability.

My opponent went with the Dragon Summoner Quix instead and Quix negated my Summoner +1 speed. Thankfully I didn't went with Range so Quix's other ability of reducing range damage by 1 didn't come into effect. The opponent's gladiator unit is Relenor Cleaver which is a powerful attack unit with strong shield and a Reach ability.

The opponent lineup main weakness is magic defense and my 2 main offensive units happened to be using magic attack so I won this. Also the tactics of using Alvar as tank with Hellondale doing reviving works prefectly. Won this without much of a doubt.

Battle 2 - Ruleset Lost Legendaries (27 Mana): LOSE
Battle 2.jpg
Have to say I setup a weird lineup in this match. I think that is partly caused by my desire to use Gobson and also being unsure whether my opponent is going to use a Earth/Water magic lineup or a Fire/Water melee lineup. I ended up trying to protect against a melee attack which never appear and got ran over by a magic lineup instead.

Battle 3 - Rulesets Equalizer + Broken Arrows (17 Mana): LOSE
Battle 3.jpg
It is a equalizer ruleset so I went filling up all the slots with small units. Unfortunately I didn't think of putting up enough offensive power and the whole lineup becomes too weak to break down the opponent units especially one with a healer. LOSE!

Battle 4 - Opponent Fled: WIN

Battle 5 - Rulesets Back to Basics + Stampede (36 Mana): LOSE
Battle 5.jpg
Only allow Fire and Earth and as it is a Back to Basics ruleset, I chose Earth since Melee is very restricted in Back to Basics rule. Opponent not surprisingly also chose Earth. You would notice I didn't use Gobson here as all Back to Basic means Gobson can't sneak and with no bloodlust. This basically made Gobson useless here.

I lose this because the even with similar attack strength, the health of my lineup is lower than that of the opponent. Also I should have place Regal Peryton more towards the front instead of at the back. I should have anticipated the opponent will be using Earth and not Fire so shouldn't worry about sneak that much.

Battle 6 - Rulesets Explosive Weaponry + Odd Ones Out (48 Mana): WIN
Battle 6.jpg
Chose Water again as it is Explosive Weaponry again. This time I used Relenor Cleaver instead of Isgald Vorst as I have more mana to use. Also I am worry of opponent reducing Isgald Vorst's attack to 1 which will make it much harder to activate bloodlust. Again I use the Alvar and Hellondale combination.

Opponent went with Fire but half of the lineup cannot attack anyone in the early turns. Ended up my Relenor Cleaver cut through the opponent lineup like butter without me losing a unit in the process.

Battle 7 - Opponent Fled: WIN

Battle 8 - Ruleset Aim True (22 Mana): WIN
Battle 8.jpg
I decided to go with Ranged as the Aim True ruleset means I can't miss with ranged. However this is a risky move as the max mana I can use is only 22 meaning I don't have much mana to put up a decent tank up front. Ranged units can't hit at the first position so this could be a wrong move. I added in Time Mage to give myself some speed as I need to attack before my opponent if this is to work.

Thankfully the opponent went with a slow lineup. This allow me to kill off faster than the opponent can remove off my units. It was a close WIN for me.

5 Wins out of 8 battles. It actually started out quite badly. When I was submitting my battles, the 3 battles that were resolved (opponents submitted their battles before me) were all losses. I was mentally prepared that this would be one of my worse performance but luckily the later 5 battles were all victories.

Notice how well the rest of my guild mates are doing? That was impressive!

From the look of that Win Loss table, you probably have guessed it. Yes we came in first again! 3 in a Row! This time with tough competition as well! 😊

From averaging 3rd 4th position exactly 2 months ago to now on a 3 brawls winning streak, the guild strength has really sky rocketed. It is an amazing experience recording the growth of the guild performance thus far.

MVP for this brawl is... Relenor Cleaver! Very powerful 2nd tank with 4 Attack 2 Speed 7 Shield 6 HP at level 1! Only weakness is its speed but the Water Summoner Kelya +1 Speed helps to cover up that weakness.
