The decadent breakfast and other stuff

baconandfuckeneggsyall.jpg

I don't usually eat breakfasts that look like this, I don't often have the time; a coffee with low sugar yoghurt and low carbohydrate granola is what I normally eat, sometimes just a smoothie...but now and then I just have to indulge in something just a little more grandiose than yoghurt and granola.

When I find the time I'll prepare a breakfast like you see above, scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, with chorizo or avocado (or both) on the side sometimes as well. There's something a little decadent about a breakfast like this and a decadent breakfast is exactly what I had this morning...it was glorious and a perfect way to start my Saturday.

The rest of today went well, a mixture chores and enjoymemt, the enjoyment being blasting 300 rounds of 9mm ammunition down range at my gun range in an IPSC handgun match - always a blast, literally - and the chores were a combination of running errands, dropping off and picking up things, a little bartering with a couple mates swapping vegetables for eggs, milk and honey that they produce, and housework...the last sucked just a little bit but I enjoy a clean and tidy environment in my home so it must be done.

Later I made dinner, some legit burgers, beef for me and vegetarian ones for my vegetarian girl, and we watched a few episodes of Altered Carbon on Netflix. Afterwards we both read a little, had coffee and snacks, and soon it'll be bed time and...never you mind what happens next.

It was a good Saturday all things considered, no complaints at all, and I'm looking forward to Sunday.

I hope y'all are having a great weekend so far and have some cool things planned. Drop me a line below if you want to tell me about it.

I'm with you on breakfast. Mine is usually a cup of coffee poured into a shaker bottle, add a cup of milk, a cup of water and a scoop of protein shake mix, and call it good.

When I do take the time to have a proper breakfast, I always make it worth my while. Probably my favorite that I've found recently is Eggs Benedict on a toasted croissant, with crumbled chorizo, Chipotle hollandaise sauce, and a side of cubed potatoes that are toasted to perfection. I'll typically pair it with a huckbleberry sparkling wine. It's spicy, delicious and worth the cost!

My weekend is just starting here. I'll pick up groceries, take care of some laundry, and later this afternoon we'll go over to my wife's aunt and uncle's house to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Sunday will probably involve some light yard work and mowing after church, but the rest of the day should be mellow.

I hope you have a relaxing rest of your weekend, my friend!

A simple (quick) breakfast is the reality for me most days but sometimes it's nice to be a little more elaborate.

Speaking of which, that breakfast you describe sounds bloody amazing! Seriously, now I'm wishing I had all that stuff to hand this morning (Sunday) to make it. Alas, it'll be bacon and eggs (no toast) instead. Coffee of course as well. Not too bad at all, but not as good as what you describe above!

It seems you have a fairly balanced weekend planned which is good; some enjoyment and productivity as well.

I hope it works out as planned and y'all have a good time.

scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms, with chorizo or avocado (or both)

Excellent breakfast.
That's what I eat every time I'm on a trip, private or business. I have a caloric breakfast and I'm full all day.

Having a decent breakfast when travelling for work is important. I use breakfast down in the hotel restaurant to look at my day, understand where, when and why so to speak and to prepare mentally. It works well for me to do so.

your breakfast looks great. I especially like how delicious those mushrooms look. My breakfast and dinner normally is just cheese on bread and a cup of coffee. Sometimes I change cheese with bacon or ham.

Yeah, it sounds like your breakfast is as basic and easy as my own usually is; breakfasts like above don't happen very often because lack of time mostly. And yep, the mushrooms were splendid!

😂 That breakfast up there brother, is a rich man's food in Nigeria.🤣🤣🤣 Please don't be offended, I'm just being curious.
You really spent your Saturday as a responsible young man and a helpful partner at home. I like that.
Myself, I was with some group of women in a special ceremony organized only for women. It was a wonderful experience too.
Being home now, I trying to put my brain to work to make entries for you two contests. Your stuffs are always brain tasking and good for mental development. That is why I want to try them out regularly, whether I pass or not.

It's just a few eggs, some bacon and mushrooms on toast I guess, but your comment probably just highlights the difference between your country and mine from an economic perspective.

Anyway, I hope you have had a good weekend and your women's group was enjoyable. Thanks for commenting and all the best with your entries.

At the moment I am drinking mate with my family, having a snack and chatting, a very pleasant moment.

Then I will go out in the evening. Tomorrow I will enjoy the Sunday walk and family!

Today I also had to do some things around the house, but it's ok, it has to be done hahaha.

You had a very good and productive day!

That breakfast looks devine.

It has been my lot to be one of those that never gets up hungry. Normally, no matter how tasty it could be, the thought of a big breakfast early on doesn't appeal to me, however, if someone wants to go out somewhere that serves a big breakfast menu about mid morning, I'm all over that. We have a place called Cracker Barrel here that among other things, will serve breakfast all day. It is not luxury quality food, but decent deep south fixins on the most part. I do enjoy that on rare occasion.

Sounds like you had a decent day overall and that's a wonderful thing.

I am resisting the chores right now ! If I don't look at them, they are not there, right ? I need a maid, I just can't be bothered with cleaning up behind myself all the time. 🤣

Cracker Barrel sounds like my sort of place!

I like the all day breakfast option, most places do it here and I think it works well. Sometimes I make breakfast for dinner, sort of what you see above with a twist like maybe some smoked salmon or something. It's good!

If I are breakfast like this each day I'd probably due so I stick mainly to the granola and yoghurt but now and then it's ok right? 😇

Also...yep, a maid would come in handy...two even better!

Have a nice weekend.

Food is meant to be enjoyed. I'm happy for you that you got the time to indulge in this big breakfast. This is probably bad to say but I tend to skip breakfast. I'm mostly eating two meals a day usually one around 10-1 and another around 5-8. I guess this is my secret to not being fat or it's just my metabolism is still good for now hehe.

Now you making me crave some burgers. I will have to get that sometime. I did have a wagyu buger few weeks ago at a restaurant called Black Tap; I don't think they have one in Australia though. It was delicious!

That burger looks good, and no I don't think we have Black Tap here, never seen one or heard if it. We have loads of good burger places though, and I don't mean that terrible fucken place McDonalds...we have it of course, but they feed pig slop to patrons, who line up to pay for it. Doesn't make sense to me.

The burger was super good. It was like their award winning burger. I think the main restaurant is from New York where it started out. Then they have it at a few countries.

🤣 haha I don't like the burgers at Mcdonald's either. I only like their ice cream. Haven't found any dessert that tastes good for such a low price haha. Even though I do find certain premium desserts better but for lower end desserts I just don't see any competition.

When I eat ice cream (which is very rarely) I look for quality and am happy to pay for it. If you saw the (inside of) the machinery that the McDonalds ice cream is squeezed out of you'd not want to part with any money for it and wouldn't put it in your mouth I think.

What do you mean the inside machinery. I Just tried watching some videos online and seeing some articles and it seemed ok but I see they say it depends on the people how often they clean the machine. I guess better and more safe ice cream are those that are scooped up. I did see a disturbing image of a drip tray that a mcd employee shared online O.O that was kind of gross

Softserve (McDonalds) ice cream is made from milk and other things and in McDonalds the cleaning and sanitising of these machines is dubious at best. Still, millions eat it and we have immune systems for a reason...it's not something I'm willing to do though. McDonalds outlets are renowned for being filthy (kitchen areas) and they have terrible food practices...just find some staff willing to speak out and you'll get all the horror stories.

I'm not trying to stop you from eating it, it's a choice you'll make yourself and your choice (whether right or wrong) will be the right one for you. I think there's better options though.

Ya millions eat it which makes it seem scary now if it's really that bad. I guess as the famous saying goes we get what we pay for. I'll have to look into more to decide. Thanks though for sharing your thoughts on it. I also prefer other alternatives but it's not necessarily the most economically friendly for me in my time of life now.

You did eat MCD ice cream before when you were younger not saying you're old now but you know what I mean

I wasn't allowed to eat it when I was a kid, my parents were not financially well off and luxuries like take away food wasn't much of a thing, and when it was McDonald's wasn't on the list of places to go. When I was old enough to buy it for myself I was of a mind to make better choices I guess...but yes, I've had it a time or two. Not for many years now though.

I see sorry to hear that. I was a bit more fortunate and probably a bit spoiled with my brother. We got to try a lot of different things and I'm grateful for that thanks to my mom.

What do you think of llaollao I believe they have this in Australia as well. It's like frozen yogurt

All good, I have piles of money now, a lifetime of good decisions and hard work is why, I still don't buy much ice cream though. Lol.

I've not heard of that ice cream you mention, maybe it's just in Melbourne, 850km away from where I live.

That's good. I'm still on my way to the piles of money. It's ok there's more things out there to buy than ice cream haha.

Oh that's very far. You're like all the way on the opposite side. Then what brand ice cream do you get if you do buy some? Like baskin robins?

It's a temptation that happens quite often when you are on a strict diet regimen but I guess it's okay to yield to it once in awhile. A delicious meal you must have had @galenkp😊
I have nothing much planned for this weekend except my brother-in-law's birthday bash slated for Sunday and my usual church service.
I wish you a great weekend.

That sounded like an awesome day. Eating good food, doing a lot of the things you like, being responsible, and spending time with your partner. I don't think most would ask for more.

Mine was a bit simpler. I finished some leftover meat that's been in the fridge, drank whisky with family, and had fun playing Scrabble and Catan.

Well now, whisky and scribble...seems an interesting and quite enjoyable mix...as long as too much whiskey doesn't effect the ability to play Scrabble! 😂

That breakfast looks great, I like everything about it, especially how those mushrooms look.

How lucky is your girl that you made veggie burgers for her. I would eat a couple right now, one with meat and one without 🤭

Thinking about so much food I just remembered that I haven't had lunch yet and here it is 18:40 on Saturday. So I'd better make spaghetti with meat and go get a couple of beers while listening to music.

That's a good balance, one with meat and one without!

It's not too hard making both, I'm used to it and we have got pretty good at making meals that cater for both. A lot of the time I just eat vegetarian as well, keeps things easy.

You skipped lunch and it's almost 19:00h? I'd be dead by then if I did that! Starvation and all. 🤔🤣

We have got pretty good at making meals that cater for both.

This is great that they can share tastes and needs in meals, among so many things.

As I write this it's already 19:40 around here and my lunch turned into dinner, but I went the easy way and bought a ready-made hamburger. 😜

I usually only have big breakfasts on the weekend. Like you that is the only time that I can actually sit an appreciate it. It's pretty rare that my wife and I go out to eat for breakfast. Usually only if we are already travelling.

It's probably a good thing there's not enough time to eat like this every day, wouldn't be too good for the health I think. It's a nice sometimes meal though.

You are right. Probably depends on the month though, it seems like they are still changing their mind all the time about whether eggs are good or bad for you!
