November HIVE Power-Up Day 2022

avatar

For a long time, I didn't participate in the #HivePUD events. Technically, I still don't get the badges for them, for whatever reason. Probably because I post with this account (which is in a continuous power down) and power up to another account, which is where I keep the majority of my stake.

Badge or no badge, I started participating in these HivePUDs partly because they are contagious and everyone is talking about them and getting excited (including myself, now), and partly because it was a way to push myself based on a certain schedule, which turned out to be good for my HIVE Power goal.

So, here we are on November 1st.

I prepared my HIVE a few days in advance, but kept it in a different account, to make sure I don't have quick fingers and power the whole amount up before the day. :)

But this morning I was done waiting. I powered up 1k HIVE, as planned I might add.

And with that, I'm less than 1500 HP away from my yearly goal for HP.

I probably won't repeat the same move next month, instead, I'll keep the amount needed to push my stake to the yearly goal in the diesel pools longer, for a higher APR.

But I will probably still participate in the next month's HivePUD, only with a smaller amount.

I still can't believe how this goal is approaching completion! And HivePUDs played an important role in that, something I'll have to keep in mind for the future.

Have you participated in HivePUD? I have another curiosity too: if you have an HP goal, do you think participating in HivePUDs helps, it is neutral or it can hurt your goal? My own answer to this is: I believe HivePUD helps most people who participate, and most of the time, but sometimes it hurts too, if you want to participate and conditions are not the best for that (to buy HIVE, or to keep it and not take advantage of some market opportunities).

Nice!!! How long have you been saving that 1000 HIVE for today? ✨

That's a difficult question to answer. The funds came from different sources. In part, they came from a diesel pool. In part, it was the liquid HBD I had outside savings and exchanged it all for HIVE, and then I had some HIVE that piled up from different sources.

Awesome! That's a big move. The first time I added 1k HP on HPUD I thought this was something very hard to do and keep up for the future. But you get used to it.

Congratulations on such a big power up today! I've never participated in the HPUD, but I've participated in every HPUM challenge since February 1st, which gives me badges, and delegations. 😁🙏💚

Yep, that's another challenge I haven't tried out, HPUM. Maybe some day...

Once you get into the habit, it becomes second nature. I don't even think about it, I just do my 2-3 posts per day with 100% power up, and the test takes care of itself. 😁🙏💚

I have my author rewards set at 100% HP right now. But I also power down the posting account all the time and move HIVE to a staking account. Probably that makes me ineligible for HPUM.

Ah, yes, powering down on any account does disqualify that account while it's powering down, but it would be eligible again after the power down was complete. 😁🙏💚

In my case, the power down on the posting account never ends. So, I'll never be eligible.

Ah, got it. Well, with your other account maybe?

I don't post from that account. It's a staking account, with fewer interactions.

Got it. Well, it seems that HPUM is not so easy in your situation. Luckily there are so many ways to do Hive that one blocked path is inconsequential. 😁🙏💚

It's true. But I like the emulation created around these days and I'm not very interested in whatever rewards are associated with the event or the badges.

That's the best perspective to take regarding these community events and initiatives; do it for the enjoyment of it. That's why I do the HPUM. I'm not particularly concerned with the badges or even the delegations. I do it because it's a fun challenge for me! 😁🙏💚

1000k Hive?! Cool! Well done. 👍🏻

My PUD was a bit smaller:

Thanks. Only 1k HIVE power up. 1000k would be ~1mil, almost a double whale!

Good luck in reaching the dolphin status on the next HPUD or by the year-end, not sure when you have the deadline.

I want to do one big power up on 1st December to reach dolphin. Saving and stacking in the background to make it happen. 🤞🏻

Only one PUD left this year.

Thanks, John! Yes indeed, only one HPUD left. Although I will probably adopt a different strategy next month.

I powered up. Thanks for the reminder. I wish I had had 1000 to power up. Great job.

Well done, Bob. Any little bit more power counts.

For a very long time I have all my posts set on 100% power-up. For me, getting the liquidity for the PUD is already a challenge, because very often this means selling some other assets...

That's how I do it too. By selling other tokens. And during the bear market, I am on 100% HP too.

Happy HPUD, my friend!
At your rate of growth, badges will soon become uninteresting. 😜 !LOLZ

I used to like collecting badges. I still like them, but I believe you are right. As web3 is built, they need to compete with assets having monetary value.

Gamifying the process of taking stake is extremely powerful!

Yes, gamification always worked and will continue to work. It may need to adapt to the reality of web3, which adds the financial aspect, account ownership, and censorship resistance to the mix, but it'll continue to work.

I have an HP goal and I tend to check in on my own goals every month. Maybe I should change that to a weekly check once the year starts. At least it lets me figure things out and I powered up 100 HP so I still have a chance of 5k HP by the end of the year.

Before I started tracking these Hive goals weekly, I tracked my portfolio monthly. I still do. But I think the weekly progress update has proven to be powerful.

Thanks! I have some powder in the diesel pools for some time later in December for what's left, so I am not worried about this goal.

Yes, the diesel pools are good way to store some easily accessible liquidity.

Woah! That's a nice power-up! I participated in them a few times. Haven't for a while. I am not sure if they help or hurt my goal. Never really gave that a thought.
