My Hive Goals (Week 17, 2024)

This is a short sum-up table with the state of my goals in easier TLDR form. The table has only a general overview, with details expanded in the post.

Current State/Other Selection CriterionGoals Matching the Criterion
Ongoing4 (52-Week HBD Savings Challenge, Posting & Commenting Goal, Land Plots Unlocked, LEO Staking)
Main Goals3 (52-Week HBD Savings Challenge, Posting & Commenting Goal, Land Plots Unlocked)
Goals2 (ZING Multiplier, LEO Staking)

Completed Goals1 (ZING Multiplier)

I include a link to the initial goal-setting post for 2024, for reference, if needed.

52-Week HBD Savings Challenge

A 52-week challenge following the popular model starts slowly and becomes increasingly more difficult with every passing week. The challenge is not at the beginning but at the end. That's why, we can use the easy start to prepare for the tougher weeks ahead.

In my case, I started with 1 HBD in week 1. This is also the step that increases the amount I need to save every week. The rule is, in my case: I need to add to savings the amount of HBD per week equal to the week number in the challenge. That means, in week 52 I'll need to save 52 HBD.

We are in the 18th week of the 52-week HBD challenge. That means I added 18 HBD to the savings for this particular goal, and reached 171 HBD, without counting the accrued interest.

Here's how things look right now:

Note: You can see there is already a small discrepancy in the totals between the spreadsheet and what is in the wallet. That is because of some approximations and easy calculations.

Interest was paid last week. Already 2 HBD per 30 days at this low amount in savings (was 106 HBD at the beginning of the month):

I didn't need this week any of the additional liquid HBD I withdrew last week to have... just in case.

Posting & Commenting Goal

I haven't missed a daily post this year yet. Reached 1774 posts published, with 231 left to hit the target in 2024. That puts the progress at 34% where 32.69% was needed to be in the green.

Here's the situation so far:

I haven't missed any edition of Week through Adrian's Lenses in 2024 either, and I mention this since it's also part of my posting goal. Overall, I reached the 68th edition of the weekly roundup which debuted at the beginning of 2023.

I also started the week with 18,467 comments made. Ended the week with 18595, which means I made 128 comments last week, which is well above the weekly average needed to reach the comments target by the end of the year. I promised I would push for this goal last week and I did.

Let's see if we can have another week of catching up on my comments goal.

I currently need an average of 98 comments weekly to reach the comments target by the end of the year.

Land Plots Unlocked

One more week and it's finished!

Another significant progress in unlocking land plots this week, using newly added and freed-up DEC. I also started using cards with penalties on Canion because I don't have enough free cards at a low(er) energy requirement.

Started the week with 70 plots unlocked and productive and 22 under construction. I currently have 73 productive plots and 23 under construction, again, 4 more than last week.

For the accounting part of this goal, I'll add plots under construction as unlocked, to better see changes from week to week, even though, technically, they are not productive until the clearing part is finished and you feed the workers.

Here's the current situation:

And a more detailed view:

Productive Plots: 73
Under Construction: 23

If I saw well, no worksites will be completed this week, so the number of productive plots will remain unchanged until next week.

LEO Staked

My LEO stake remains at 23,800 LP, with 3k being delegated to one of the winners of the previous LPUD draw. I continued to add more LEO to SWAP.HIVE-LEO and CACAO-LEO pools, for now.

Here's the current situation:

If I participate in the future LPUDs as before, with 200 LEO power-ups, and nothing else staked throughout the months, this goal should be completed in October.

ZING Multiplier - Completed

Goal completed in week 10 with 25,203 ZING.

Since then, I slowly grew my stash from staking rewards only. Waiting for sales.

My ZING holdings are now at 25,960.

This was the final situation when the goal was achieved, I won't keep updating it:

Sure, do that! Besides Splinterlands, it's the project with the highest exposure to the crypto space outside Hive.

The HBD definitely adds up over time. I think someone did some math and for every $60 or so in HBD, you can expect around $1 per month. So the math does add up with all the HBD you added.

Nice job on your commenting goal. Getting above that average is a good change.

Yep. That's simple math at 20% APR. At 120 HBD that's 24 HBD in 12 months, which makes it 2 per month. That means at 60 HBD it's 1 HBD per month.

Nice job on your commenting goal. Getting above that average is a good change.

Thanks. It takes some effort to increase the comment count without replying only with a few words. That's why I always appreciate thoughtful comments.

I am impressed that you are setting a goal even with your comments. I thought it was only applicable to tokens.

Why not? You can set a goal on everything quantifiable. It is important to not cheat though. It's easy to set such a goal and start commenting "Great post" on other people's posts, lol. Although that would certainly brand someone as a spammer quickly enough.

Yeah, I see many doing that "great post" comment. 😆

Thanks. Following through with your goals is even more important than setting them. 😉
