How to be Rewarded More on Listnerds?

avatar

I just finished listening to the recording of Crypto Mondays with Jon and Blain from this week a few minutes ago.

One of the topics was Listnerds. It came about in the discussion that people sharing their Hive posts on Listnerds receive their upvotes on Listnerds, but also on Hive.

And that is true, I can confirm that, as someone who share my posts on Listnerds and also upvote other posts shared through the platform.

That talk along with my experience with Listnerds gave the idea for this post, actually.

image.png

One can receive the additional Hive benefits (engagement, upvotes, reblogs, follows), if a Hive post is promoted on Listnerds. Not otherwise! Seems logical, isn't it?

If you don't share a Hive post but expect these benefits it's much like that joke about praying to win the lottery, but without buying a ticket. Except by sharing a Hive post on Listnerds some form of extra Hive rewards is almost guaranteed, unlike winning the lottery.

I talked about the benefits of using Listnerds before, so I'm not going to repeat myself.

What I'd like to point out specifically in this post is that it can pay off to write a blog post on Hive about whatever you are promoting, instead of doing it directly via the email.

Yes, it's extra work to write the post and yes it's an additional step people need to take from the email to the blog post and then to the product you are promoting. But if it's done in a smart way, that should work. Especially if you value feedback and what you can learn about what you're promoting this way.

What I find curious is that even affiliate programs from Hive are often promoted directly, without a good blog to convince me to join using the respective link.

Who knows? Maybe I have questions and you can clear them up for me. And you can do that in the comments section of your blog.

Plus, of course, you miss out on the Hive rewards.

Yes, it's easier to put together a few email lines, or even a great email and add a link, maybe even an image. If you also automate it, job done!

What I say is the extra work of linking that to a Hive post might pay off. You can at least try it and see how it works out for you.

It has been more than once when I wanted to upvote and comment on an email I see in Listnerds, only to discover it goes to a lead capture page or worse, directly to the program's homepage.

While lead capture pages build email lists, we have to keep in mind these are mainly instruments of unidirectional communication, in an era where engagement is the key. And that is where a Hive blog post can make the difference.

That's my 2 cents.

Yes! It's a win for everyone, you can start a conversation with the email sender if you have questions as well as the fact that the sender knows who is using his/her ref link. Which makes it all more personal as well.

Well, there are ways for the affiliate to know who signed up using the ref links, but that's generally a one-way street. That doesn't help conversation at all. In my opinion, in this day and age, without being able to talk to each other, the trust between affiliate and potential referrals cannot be built.

One of my favorite things ever is being able to double upvote people when I come across a email with a link to a Hive post on Listnerds!

And props to you for pointing it out with your post/email, hopefully more people will see just how awesome doing so can be😊

To me it seems so easy to understand. At least for people on Hive, that should make sense immediately.

For the traditional online marketers, maybe it'll take some time to click, because they are caught in a different paradigm, but they eventually will understand how these double rewards work.

I've noticed it's really hard for people to change/shift when they get in a pattern (Even I suffer from this at times), but it's such a fantastically designed platform that I think they'll come around. I know I am a loving it!

We all suffer from this. It's our mind playing tricks on us to stick to the path we are familiar with and which requires less effort. Because changing takes effort to adapt, and our mind would rather not do it, unless we push it.

It is definitely a win-win for blog posts advertised on #ListNerds, but the other concept with affiliate marketing and writing a post or basically an ad for your product could prove to be much more beneficial. Great Idea @gadrian.

It can be an ad, but it can also be an example of how you use the product or some tips and tricks you want to share about it, a guide etc. You can do a lot in a blog post that goes beyond advertising.

I have to agree. I prefer it if people were to put down hive posts so I can reward them and I think people should definitely take advantage of this more.

This seems normal to me. Maybe for others that extra step of writing a post is a deterrent.

Yes, that could be possible. It isn't an issue for me because I tend to make a few posts a week. I think having a short summary on Listnerds and the full article on Hive just makes more sense.

My experience has shown that ListNerd mail linked to blog posts result in better interaction and reward. When I click on an affiliate link, I'm quicker to close the window, if it's not for me. But if I click on a blog post, it's something to read, upvote and comment on. Helps build that interaction.

So my lesson has been: link to hive blog posts rather than affiliate links.

Coming from Hive is natural everyone feels this way. But traditional online marketers seem to have an issue seeing the benefits so far.

Now this sound very much true :) I really like those emails the most that take me to a post where I can learn something and have a good read. It is also more visually pleasing to look at a product in a blogpost than in an email.

Personally, I prefer to write short emails that link to blog posts where I can expand on the topic.

I really like this approach. It's even better than just a plain promotion through Listnerds. And it can reward 2 people at once, with both more than they would have without this.

Both people can win if there is a two-way communication line, and a Hive post offers that possibility.

Huge point! Now I'm not saying list building isn't important, it is...But the result of proper list building is always..Building relationships. You can do that here SO much easier!

Exactly my point. Hive is a perfect place to build relationships. So why would someone ignore this opportunity?

The merging of your email list and your following on a Web3 account is an interesting concept.

Both are 'your' assets that can't be taken away from you, but each are used differently.

I love what you're doing here with ListNerds, Jon and I will get involved eventually!!

It's a whole new approach to it all, thinking it might have some legs because of all the 'slapping' Gmail is doing with emails.

You definitely receive more rewards from sharing a post in ListNerds. But there are still quite a few people emailing the more traditional splash pages. It is the wild, wild Hive out there do what is best for you.

O.K. finally signed up for Listnerds, I actually have been very interested in this from the start just didn't want to add to my time until now.

As described above 2 way communication works out great. One thing I wonder though is if it would be possible for someone to subscribe to a specific Listnerds member in the future? This could allow whole communities to be built delivering E-Mails to specific groups of people.

That's not possible, but @jongolson says when the userbase and activity grows, they want to include a sort of filtering of emails based on topic. And one can choose what type of emails to receive.

Sorry @gadrian to jump into your comment section, but I tried finding a way to contact @netvalar who is in my downline, and this was the last comment. How's your journey going @netvalar, I haven't seen any email from you yet, and was wondering can I help you somewhere to get you started? You can find my discord id in my last post in the footer.. Please contact me so we can catch up :) I'd love to help you out.

That's exactly what I said to Jon a few weeks ago when the subject about promoting products/services on Listnerds came out.
Hive should be a bridge between your promo on Listnerds and your product/service.

When people promote products/services on Listnerds, I don't even make an effort to look at what they're talking about. I just click the link and close the tab.

Let's think about it: If you really think a product/service is amazing and I should use it too, why don't you take the time to properly explain to me why I should use it too in a Hive post?
I may not buy it in the end but at least it will get me interested because if you took the time to make a real Hive post about it, it means that you believe in the product/service. (and even if I don't buy, I'll upvote just because I like you so it's still a win for you)

If you're too lazy to make a post about it...well maybe it's because you know deep down it's not really worth my time right? 😄

Well, there are some online marketing techniques that do take care of the presentation problem. What they generally ignore, unless you pay them a ton of money is to listen to potential customers and have a conversation with them, if they are interested or have questions or need help. A blog post on Hive can help with that.

According to my statistics, less than one in three people who read a mailing list rates it inside ListNerd. And you talk about how people will appreciate the post.
Personally, I'm going to add an appearance in each of my newsletters how important it is to rate this particular letter.

When you say "rates" you email on Listnerds, do you mean vote on it? That seems about right, it's a good rate. And it can be for multiple reasons:

  1. users only have a very limited number of votes per day if they don't stake CTP, so they don't vote on every email they open
  2. they didn't like your email enough to give it an upvote
  3. it's another step they'd have to do - if they are in a hurry, they might skip this step

Let's look at it this way: do you believe it is more likely that someone from Hive gives you an upvote on Listnerds (and on Hive) if you add a post to Hive or a direct link to a product you promote?

In my humble opinion, the key problem is the number of letters for which you can vote (in my case, only four - one vote takes 25% that are restored for more than a day).
The second point is, of course, that they are in a hurry. I think if a certain timer was introduced, users would read more carefully what they were sent.

For the first point, if you stake some CTP on Listnerds, the number of votes increases.

About the timer, it has been tried in online marketing for years. The attention level doesn't grow. It'll rather move from the page to the counter.

But again, that rate is pretty good! Think about it, there are many points where you could lose someone's interest:

  1. on the subject line, doesn't even open the email
  2. opens the email but doesn't read it or not interested
  3. clicks the link but doesn't wait for the page to open
  4. doesn't read the page that opens
  5. doesn't act on the call to action, if there is one
  6. doesn't vote on the email once all the other steps are completed

I understand all these nuances ... After all, I have been connected with mailing lists since the time when the getpaidforum was mega popular.
But one way or another, sooner or later, I will find the golden key to a well-formed newsletter

Ah, I thought maybe you came from the crypto world into Listnerds. Then you should "get it" both from the crypto side and the online marketing side. :)

:) It is the crypto component that makes Listnerds unique. I just haven't formed the full concept of marketing in the "old" mailing lists yet.

While lead capture pages build email lists, we have to keep in mind these are mainly instruments of unidirectional communication, in an era where engagement is the key.

I like that. A very timely reminder. I am not sure how many emails I read on ListNerds are in this category. But if it's a Hive post, most likely I will upvote it on Hive. The only challenge I have to overcome right now in giving my upvote on ListNerd is my lack of staked CTP, which means that I could only vote once per day. I have to wait until next month for my status to change.

As for Hive posts, if my voting bar is too low, I would prefer to go for a tipping token instead.

Saving your post on ListNerds for my future reference.

Thanks!

Yes, do stake some CTP on Listnerds. It doesn't take much to increase your number of votes per day. I overdid it myself. With 5000 CTP staked, I have 200 votes to distribute at max. But I don't remember ever distributing more than 20 in a day.

Is that so? Not sure if I am in your position I don't know how many of those votes I will use in a day? 😆

Well, I had some CTP earned over time and just moved part of them to Listnerds. The curation rewards are about the same, so it doesn't hurt that I moved them there.

In my case, I only have close to 500 CTP, but they are all staked at ctptalk.com.

You could move half of them maybe to Listnerds (need to unstake them first, it takes one week). That should give you quite a few extra votes. Curation is the same, and you can decide what to do with them, stake them at Listnerds or withdraw them to Hive-Engine (CTPTalk) and stake them there.

It's good that it only takes a week to un-stake. I thought it was similar to HIVE.

I think there's more room for ListNerds to grow. I said before that it is relatively new so the sky is the limit! Good to see people aiming to see more of it. It's a slow process.

Of course, we will see more growth. Someone just let me know in the comments that he (she?) just joined Listnerds.
