UNITING CULTURES THROUGH MUSIC

Naturally, Music is an important part of African culture. It's always carried out in every aspect of their lives. I could remember, when I was young, in the evening time, our parents would gather me and my siblings, and tells us different stories with music. It is not just to have fun but to impact our lives and educate us. Up-till now African people still used music to tells story and educate other.

Here in African, we have different languages, culture and religion but our life is surrounded with music. Our people see music in everything they are doing. Their is a part of African that sing to a pregnant woman during a child birth. Here in my country, Nigeria, when a child was born, a mother always sing to her babies to make the child happy. Music in African doesn't know age or wealth. it's part of everybody lives. Music is more than just fun or entertainment.

Music is an essential part of our life. It serve as a way to express our feeling and accomplished our ceremonies, religious and festival. There are many festival or ceremonies within African, and throughout all these African ceremonies including weddings, funerals, religious ceremonies, Masquerade festival and other events. music is mostly used in the celebration process. During African festival, Music are used as form of medicine to plead the ancestors and heal the sick. People of African also used music in praising the God's, chasing away evil spirit and create a sense of connection with the ancestors. Almost all African believe in the power of music. Music has always been common during football match or during war time, to serve as a source motivation and encouragement.

There is a lot of thing something special about African music. There music has the ability to Inspire and brings people together from different cultures and tribes. It's has the ability to heal and brings the best out of you. Music are important in African culture and some of the examples of African music include Fuji, Apala, Zulu, afrobeat, highlife, Ndombolo, makossa and so on. There are several African musical instruments such as bells, rains stick, different varieties of drums, flutes kosika, shekere and so on.

Here in African, Music and culture is in our DNA and it's part of our life.
