Our Weaning Journey, The End, Plus A Simple Remedy That Makes a Lot of Difference

Hello There, 😊πŸ₯° amazing hivers, welcome back to my corner as I share with you today an important journey of ours.

We started weaning my son over two weeks ago, which I wrote about Here I'm very grateful for all your support and the beautiful comments we received.

Like I said earlier, he decided he had enough and chose to wean himself, which came as a pleasant surprise to us. I was truly happy he stopped by himself as I was nervous about how he would react when the time came to wean him.

On his part, it has been great, not crying around and looking for breast milk, once I make sure he is well fed that is all, he would play around the house and only signal for food when he is hungry. I better be ready with his food when he does or else, all hell could get lost. Hehehe!

Also playing with him around the house and outdoors helps a lot in distracting him to focus more on his environment instead of me.

At night, he sleeps even better compared to his pre-weaning time. He only wakes up sometimes, once, just to sip water and go back to bed. This means I now have more hours to sleep at night without any interruption from him unlike before.

For this, my sleep quality has improved and it is such a huge relief for me.

Though he can be very picky with food, I have managed to introduce him to some simple healthy meals that are great for his development and he has begun to love and enjoy them.

On My part

For a while, I was nervous about the weaving process, due to my experience of how challenging the process can be for some women around me.

But I'm so thankful for how our own turns out. I was lucky to have a friend who through her advice found a simple remedy that helped with the whole thing.

On the morning of the 15th of January, his weaning had begun the previous day, I started feeling pains all over my body, which was expected. I requested the help of my neighbor who was going out to a nearby store in our neighborhood to help me get some pain relief so it could help with the pains, but lucky for me she told me to use something else.

I started to believe that, She is my Dad's prayers answered by God. My Dad always prayed that wherever I found myself, God should always put good people in my life who would care for and treat me like a family.

This my neighbor has been like that, she has been so helpful to my family in many ways than I could count, ever since we got here. She is part of the reason we don't feel like our extended families live far away from here.

My neighbor(a God-sent) said the women in her family make use of cloves when they are weaning their babies and they never experienced symptoms related to weaning at all.

All I needed was to just swallow three pieces of cloves with water every day for five days.

And it works like magic, I do not experience any symptoms, such as headaches, fatigue, and running temperature due to the changes in my hormones.

If you ever wean a child or close to mothers who did, you will have an idea of how challenging it could be for some mothers.

In my family, while I was growing up, the women's breasts when so full of milk and painful, that they would be told to press out the milk to reduce the pain and it used to be a very painful process altogether.

But my neighbor advised against that, she told me to just make sure to use a firm bra throughout the process and I did.

Growing up I witnessed women being told to remove their bra due to too much pain, this caused the milk to drop out and in the end, their breasts might not be able to bounce back or at least get close to their pre-pregnancy days. So unless you don't like your favorite God-given gift bouncing back, you better keep that bra on when weaning.

More than ever before, keeping to a healthy balanced diet and adequate intake of water, vegetables, and fruits is very important for the full recovery of my body.

I am glad we are getting the weaning process behind us, with such a smooth experience and valuable lessons to keep in my heart and pass on to the next available weaning mother around me who might need this little but helpful knowledge. And by documenting it here, who knows who might come across it and find it helpful?

Thank you very much for visiting my blog, this will be all from me today. I wish you a nice weekend. @funshee✍
