Spring! #Wednesdaywalk

Spring has arrived! Although the astrological spring starts on March the 21st, the meteorological spring has started today on March 1st.

For those who (like me) that don't really know the difference between the astrological and the meteorological spring; I've asked ChatGPT to explain it to me:

Meteorological spring is defined by meteorologists and climatologists as the three-month period of March, April, and May, which are the months when temperatures typically start to rise after the winter season. This definition is based on the annual temperature cycle and is used to make it easier to compare seasonal statistics from year to year.
Astronomical spring, on the other hand, is defined by the position of the Earth in its orbit around the sun. Specifically, it is marked by the spring equinox, which is the moment when the sun is directly above the equator and day and night are roughly equal in length. This typically occurs on March 20th or 21st in the Northern Hemisphere.
So while meteorological spring is defined by temperature and climate patterns, astronomical spring is defined by the position of the Earth in space relative to the sun. It's important to note that the dates of these seasons can vary slightly from year to year, but meteorological spring always begins on March 1st and ends on May 31st, whereas astronomical spring begins with the spring equinox.

Anyways...despite it is spring (in the meteorological way) it is still very cold. The temperature is just a few degrees above 0 degrees Celsius. But there is a lot less wind than we had last weekend and.... we had a nice sun.

Another sign of spring are all the flowers that are popping up. Every year there are loads of daffodils along the waterside. Their bright yellow colour is such a lovely sight.
The birds are also being more active at the moment. I feed them in my backyard and more and more are showing up. I've even seen a great tit inspecting the nest box in the back of my yard, so maybe we'll get a nest again soon.
We've had a nest in the last few years and it's so cool so see the parents flying in with insects and hear the young ones twittering.

Most of the trees are stil leafless, but the bushes also start showing some flowers already. I don't know which species these are, but they have lovely little white flowers.

And there is an explosion of crocuses too! Some lawns are covered with white and purple ones. I think these multiply themselves over the years. It's such a cool sight.

And in between the field of purple and white crocuses is one bunch of yellow ones. It's just like the small Gallic Village of Asterix and Obelix resisting against the Romans.

A nit furtheron there is a small unpaved path along a pond. Around the pond are some big old trees covered in Ivy.

One last photo I want to share from my #wednesdaywalk is this hoop I saw hanging in the trees. I really wonder what happened there. The hoop is quite high op in the tree and completely around a branch. This doesn't look like an accident 😃

Anyways, it was nice going for a #wednesdaywalk

This is what I love to see pictures of spring because there were lot of beautiful flowers that can be seen around in different shapes, colors and beauty.

I don't know when I can see them in person but who knows, right?
