What are the factors that deter women's political involvement?

Greetings to my esteemed friends on the #Question&Answer community and the entire hive blockchain. Its another day and time to share with you what we need to understand that is affecting the political participation of the famale folks around the globe. It's your friend @faquan, saying hello from this part of the world.

In some parts of the world today, women are not given the opportunity to get involved in politics and this has been seen as marginalisation of the female gender. As we celebrate the International Women's Day today, it'll be good if we outline those limitations facing the adequate participation of women in politics.

In the developed world most of the barriers facing women's political participation has been greatly removed but here in Africa it's still a major issue and this can be traced to many factors and one of it is the male dominance of the African society.

It is believed that the male folks are the head of the families and the society, so, women were designated to play some minor rule in the society. The woman is believed to have been created to take care of the family and to give birth to children.

This has tremendously affected the women's political pursuit as well as the power of the woman to express herself politically. From studies, it has been revealed that the female folks have more tendencies to drive a nation to growth and development. But the male dominance in the political sphere has really affected the rise of women to great political height.

Things has changed tremendously in Africa in recent times, where some women have proven to be heads of political and social offices. The likes of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala of the World Trade Organisation and the former Liberian President Helen who took the West African country to some significant development.

There more women that are willing to take part in political career but most of them are facing threats from their male counterpart in the same political race and they tend to get discouraged and back off from the race. Others are not allowed to get involved in politics by their husbands who believe that their game will make them disrespectful to their husbands.
