The Bane of Human Trafficking

Greetings to my esteemed friends on the Cent commumity and the entire hive blockchain. It's another time to share with you the ills associated with modern day slavery and how it has affected the progress of humanity at large. It's your friend @faquan saying hello from this part of the world.

One of the fastest growing industry in the world is smuggling and trafficking in person. This is truly an illegal venture that has helped to bring back slave trade and slavery into our contemporary times. It is very detestable that humans will sell you month without feeling bad. To some persons this is the best way to make money and become rich overnight without having any fear of the sanctity of human life on human existence.

What is Human Trafficking?
The United Nations defines human trafficking as “the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring, or receipt of people through force, fraud, or deception, with the aim of exploiting them for profit.” It exists in almost every industry, including domestic work, agriculture, mining, fishing, factory work, and commercial sex work. Victims of human trafficking can also be forced into marriage and armed conflict.

Poverty, especially extreme poverty, is one of the most significant drivers of human trafficking. Extreme poverty is defined as living with less than $1.90 a day. While efforts to end extreme poverty were on the right track, the COVID-19 pandemic reversed progress. In 2020 – for the first time in twenty years – the number of workers living in extreme poverty rose from 6.7% in 2019 to 7.2%. That increase represented 8 million people. To find better work, many people migrate, which makes them more vulnerable to traffickers.

I agree to the fact that poverty an extreme poverty have been the facilitators of human trafficking but most persons who were promised jobs overseas we are giving hope of getting a better job for them meanwhile they don't really understand that they were being trafficked.

Truth be told many people in low income countries are really facing serious hardship and poor governance that has let them to seek for greener pastures abroad.

For me human trafficking is an evil that needs to be abolished due to the devaluing of humans into commodities but I sold for commercial purposes in various industries. To stop or end human trafficking all hands must be on Deck and those responsible must be brought to book including one's relations who are involved in trafficking in persons.

Also both States and international governments needs to push for the complete alleviation of poverty in different countries to help people get a better life another was to avoid being trafficked.
