Ladies of hive contest #138: Father's day

1️⃣ A day recognizing fathers will be celebrated later this month in some parts of the world. With the changing perception of gender roles in our modern societies, how would you define the roles and responsibilities of fathers? And why do you define them that way?

Good evening beautiful #ladiesofhive, how are you doing over there?.

Father's day will be celebrated here in Nigeria on Sunday 18th of June. It's great we are beginning to appreciate fathers more, thanks to @sagarkothari88 for this topic which made me emotional, before the focus was more on mothers 😁, it is fair having a day set aside to appreciate fathers too, behind the strong men lies the silent tears, sacrifices. and burden of taking care of the children. The role of a father cannot be replaced by anyone in a child's life.

Growing up I saw my dad less, once or twice in a year, usually festive season or when he is on leave which is rare, and when he is at home I still prefer the comfort of my mum, my dad is a very strict person and I hardly talk too, always in my shell, my own nature and his strictness made it worse because I was always scared to talk sometimes. As I began to mix little by little with friends I saw some things which made me understand the reason why fathers are being harsh, because of the love they have and they don't want us to go astray, mothers put us through as well but the fear fathers create in us, we still go against mother's instructions and stylishly escape punishment with excuses but we dare not with dad, my mum sometimes will threaten to report any of our bad behaviours to him and we quickly shrink and adjust. We saw it as a wicked attitude though.

Now that we are grown he still sees this fear in us, this made him a little bit calm or maybe it's due to old age, he was never present in any of my siblings' graduation due to work but he made it to mine, since it came after his retirement, he is not really the photo freak, he still tried to pose for few pictures. His retirement was an opportunity to stay close to us, for 2 decades I spoke to him more on phone and he always make sure we never lack anything,he is a very emotional person and caring too but takes only those closer to him to notice. Fathers stay strong for their families and do not always want to show their weaknesses. They shoulder the responsibility and do not want to see their children suffer. They make sure everything is being taken care of from the shelter, clothing to feeding, they deserve accolades too.

Yeah, I think I do understand to an extent why dads are strict but mine isn't as strict as many would tell me about theirs.

But he would never see me doing the wrong thing and stay calm about it... Dads are amazing! Lovely pictures of your dad 😍

Awwn! Lucky you, he was very strict, but my siblings do say he's still lenient with me because I am the last child. You are right they will never stay calm when we are doing the wrong thing, this helps us to be disciplined

Thanks for the nice comment ❤️

Happy father's day! Dads always have this strong and strict aura while moms are chill. Usually, we vibe with moms. But dads have this "superhero effect" because aside from disciplining us when we commit mistakes, they also have in them the responsibility of protecting us from getting hurt, getting harmed. They too, have their bad days but it seems that they always manage things with so much grace, patience and calmness. We can always count on our fathers.❤️ Personally, my dad is my standard of the man I want to spend the rest of my life.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!😊

Awwn! It's nice hearing you want your type of man to be like your dad. The kind of love father give to their daughters is so rare, they don't want any harm for us. They always protect us

Strict parents love their children in their own way, it's good that your dad has retired to get closer to you. 😊
