Back to reality

We are back! There is something about travelling that makes home seem so wonderful. We are about to head up to the farm, I hope to be able to stay for a day or two... but I already ran around town all day today trying to catch up on things.

The festival is coming up fast and in my absense the tourism council has done really nothing to prepare for the event, but we are just in time to poke everyone about it and get ready.

We got a meeting getting set up tuesday afternoon, hopefully we can inform everyone quickly about it.

Our trip from Bogotá to Líbano was delayed by a day because we had too much luggage for the bus. We got a private car, but we weren't the only passengers, and a whole lot of stuff got tied to the roof.

I helped!

Thank goodness the trip back was uneventful, we made slow time but did make it after nightfall, with a beautiful full moon shining our way into Líbano last night.

This morning I went to check on my trash compactor, our recycle business is not going really well, it needs a reorg and I'm not sure if I'm up for it.

But I have some ideas who might be.

I visited one local emminance of a business owner, and he was building some apartments when we found him. He is helping store the trash compactor in the meantime, so we don't have to keep paying rent in the warehouse while contemplating the reorganization.

Honestly we were really close to making it work, we had jumped through most of the beaurocratic hoops amd learned a lot. With three months more runway we would be the only legal recycling center in the town, and getting government subsidies.

But over the years I have learned when to quit and when to ask for help.

Up on the third floor we talked business for a bit, of course he was quite curious about what went wrong, and why we still think its a good idea. Up there I got a good look to at what they were working on.

After this I went to the mayoral office and met with a bunch of functionaries. I got some paperwork I had been waiting for, planned a meeting, and set up another meeting for more information.

Then, somebody gave me a snake. It was found in the hospital, and now I'm in charge of releasing it into the wild. Its a harmless little savanera snake, and the fact that someone didn't kill it already is a note of progress on the local attitude towards 'biodiversity'.

I'm hoping to get back into the routine, my routine, of posting more frequently. The trip took a lot out of us. It was serious work, physically and emotionally. But we are back home, and happy to be here.

Praise the Lord

Freedom and Friendship

I am glad you got back safely from traveling around everyone. Good luck with the tourism council and getting back to your usual routine.

Welcome home, where people randomly hand you snakes and good ideas are put on hold. At least it is better than the US, where people ARE the snakes and good ideas are stolen for profit. Glad you made the trip safely.

How serious are you about getting out? Because cost of living is ridiculously cheap down here, and internet is very good for those who work digitally.

Well my man, there are some complications that tie me here for the current time. However, soon, hopefully we can change that. Might be sooner than later, once these personal issues pan out.

Good looking out, though man. Keep that thought alive and I may engage in some serious discussion at a undisclosed later date.

And if it helps...

Even a little helps a ton! Just being able to try means people will love you, plus then you can learn more as you go. Immersion doesn't really work without some basics.

Every person likes to go on a trip, especially when one goes to such beautiful places and the way we see that the luggage etc. is also carried by a person, so enjoy a lot with friends on the way.

Despite everything, it seems like you were having a good time; I could see the lightness on your face. Cool photos, man! Invite me to work on your farm; it would be fun, haha. Cheers!
