Animal photography #6 Monkeys- Uranutas // Tierfotografie #6 Affen- Uranutas (ENG/DEU)
Today it continues, with some beautiful photos, from the zoo.
I could already show you some of this beautiful day. As already told, we have looked at a lot of animals, including the monkey enclosure where I then also had a little more time to snap some nice photos.
Heute geht es weiter, mit einigen schönen Fotos, aus dem Tierpark. Ich konnte euch schon einiges von diesem schönen Tag zeigen. Wie schon erzählt haben wir uns sehr viele Tiere angesehen, so auch das Affengehege wo ich dann auch mal wieder ein bisschen mehr Zeit hatte um einige schöne Fotos zu knipsen.

Zusätzlich hatte ich Glück im Uranutas Gehege ein Affenpapa und sein Baby auf beim Kuscheln auf einem Baumstamm zu beobachten und konnte davon einige Bilder knipsen. Immer wieder musste ich Fotos löschen oder aussortieren, da sich einige Leute kontinuierlich vor meine Linse gestellt haben. Dazu kam das immer wieder mein Neffe auf den Arm wollte um noch besser in die Gehege hereinschauen zu können. In der Zeit war an Fotografieren nicht zu denken.
Orangutans reach a head-torso length of 1.25 to 1.5 meters. In terms of weight,
there is a clear sexual dimorphism:
males, weighing 50 to 90 kilograms,
are almost twice as heavy as females, which weigh 30 to 50 kilograms.
Animals in captivity, on the other hand, tend to grow significantly heavier; males can reach weights of nearly 200 kilograms.
Sumatran orangutans are
generally somewhat lighter and more delicate than their Borneo relatives.
The rather thin and shaggy fur of the orangutans is dark red or reddish brown in color - usually somewhat lighter in the
Sumatran animals.
The limbs of these animals show strong specialization to a tree-dwelling lifestyle.
The arms are very long and strong and can reach a span of 2.25 meters.
The hands are hooked and elongated, while the thumb
is very short and localized near the carpus. The comparatively short legs are very flexible and can be bent inward, which is useful for vertical climbing on tree trunks.
The big toe is shortened analogous
to the thumb and is located relatively close to the tarsus, the remaining toes,
however, are extended and curved. Overall, this gives the feet a hand-like impression.
Orang-Utans erreichen eine Kopf-Rumpf-Länge von 1,25 bis 1,5 Metern. Hinsichtlich des Gewichtes herrscht ein deutlicher Geschlechtsdimorphismus: Männchen sind mit 50 bis 90 Kilogramm nahezu doppelt so schwer wie Weibchen, die 30 bis 50 Kilogramm auf die Waage bringen. Tiere in Gefangenschaft neigen hingegen dazu, deutlich schwerer zu werden; Männchen können dabei ein Gewicht von nahezu 200 Kilogramm erreichen. Die Sumatra-Orang-Utans sind im Allgemeinen etwas leichter und zierlicher als ihre Verwandten auf Borneo. Das eher dünne und zottelig wirkende Fell der Orang-Utans ist dunkelrot oder rötlich braun gefärbt – bei den Tieren aus Sumatra meist etwas heller.
Die Gliedmaßen dieser Tiere zeigen starke Spezialisierungen an eine baumbewohnende Lebensweise. Die Arme sind sehr lang und kräftig und können eine Spannweite von 2,25 Metern erreichen. Die Hände sind hakenförmig und langgestreckt, der Daumen hingegen sehr kurz und nahe an der Handwurzel lokalisiert. Die vergleichsweise kurzen Beine sind sehr beweglich und nach innen einbiegbar, was dem senkrechten Klettern an Baumstämmen dient. Die Großzehe ist analog zum Daumen verkürzt und liegt relativ nah an der Fußwurzel, die übrigen Zehen sind hingegen verlängert und gebogen. Insgesamt erwecken die Füße dadurch einen handähnlichen Eindruck.
