Why Should We be Realistic in Our Expectations

I have been on Hive for some time now and referred a few of my friends to the platform trying to explain them about the platform. They signed up on Hive but I don't think any of them is now actively posting on the platform.

I don't know if its because there is no such culture of earning online or something like earning from a web3 social media platform by blogging or they think its hard for them to write an article in English.

I had to visit to the hospital one night, met a doctor and then I told him about Hive and how it works. He did look very interested and motivated asking for my mobile number so that he may have more information about Hive.

And then I had to explain things to him on WhatsApp, how it works etc. He did look very motivated to me and I also wanted to help him in his journey on Hive trying to explain things to him.

One thing that I felt about him is that probably he wanted results very quick. He shared a number of posts on Hive on some good pace. He also asked me why he ain't getting upvotes. And I had to explain to him that it requires time. Don't expect things quick.

The last post he published was 8 days ago.

People who expect things quick and expect things as they want, they could get demotivated as well and quit after some time not getting the results what they expect.

This is why its very important to be realistic in our expectations. If you think of Hive as something like a get rich quick scheme or want results as you expect, then you might quit after some time not getting the expected results.

Talking of Hive, its a platform that requires consistency and patience. You have to work here building your name. Your usernames are like brands out here. It's upon you, how you represent yourself to the community and how well you do it.

This is why, we should have realistic expectations rather than want things our way or have unrealistic expectations.

Another thing is, it's not just posting and expecting people to show up and upvote your stuff. It requires networking. Liking and commenting on other people's posts gets them to yours. People have been trained by Facebook to sit back and watch it happen without effort. The algorithm will do it for you. On Hive, there is no algorithm. You choose what you want to read and you choose whom you want align yourself with. It's more like the real world. Some people aren't ever going to get that.
