#LOH CONTEST 159: My Favorite Holiday and My Passion.

Holidays are essential in the life of men. There is a saying that “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
To me, holidays provides the opportunity to relax my muscles and relieve my brain from the stress that work brings.
Well, holidays may not be long, just two days or at most five days, but these holidays help some of us keep our sanity.

MMM… My favorite holiday will be the New Year Holiday, it’s a special holiday to me, a time my family come together to thank God for His goodness and mercy over our life.

A time to remember the people we have lost in the past year. To count our blessings and name them one by one.

This helps us to cherish the present year and helps us to treat and love each other better because nobody knows what tomorrow hold.

We pray to live long, but no one knows the date and time, we will say our final goodbye. This made us to always cherish the moment by eating , gisting, laughing and also taking pictures together.

There is what we call CROSSOVER during this holiday. It is the night that separates December from January. My family goes to church as a Christian and the Muslims goes to the mosque to thank God for the concluded year and to pray over the New Year.

Immediately it clocks 12am, we will all shout Happy New Year! And congratulate each other. After church, we all start to call our friends and loved ones to wish them a blissful New Year.

Another thing that makes this holiday unique is that, it is the time to set new goals. Although goals are to be set in December and implemented by the new year, but I know some people who do that first day of the year.

New Year is a special holiday because it’s a time to reminisce on what and what I was able to achieve last year an always remember to congratulate myself and what are the things I was unable to achieve in the last year and to set better strategies on how to achieve them the New year.

It is the beginning of a new season in life, time to become more optimistic about the futures, it is a time that gives us assurance that as long as there is life then there is hope.

MY PASSION

I found my passion in the world of the Youth and Teenagers. These beautiful souls are going through a lot, numerous pressures are being directed to youth.

Yes, I am still a youth, but my discipline has opened my eyes to what my contemporaries are going through, ranging from abuse, addiction, confusion about life and so on

As a counseling psychologist, I want to be able to proffer possible solutions to all these problems. And also giving them the assurance that they are not alone on this journey, we are in it together.
