Some lovely places in Galipán

Galipán

I've already told you a little about my getaway to Galipán two weekends ago, in which the first part of the excursion was to hike up to the Picacho de Galipán to marvel at the view from that rocky promontory. A place that fills you with positive vibes.

But Galipán is a small village spread on one of the slopes of the Avila that overlooks the Caribbean Sea, and It has many more places to visit. So let me share with you what we visited that day in the rest of the excursion.

Galipan1.jpg

After the hike to the Picacho, we walked back to the area known as Boca de Tigre, where the 4x4 that had taken us there was waiting for us to continue our route.

Galipan2.jpg

In Boca de Tigre, there are several food stalls. Also, we could not miss a stall of flowers grown in Galipán.

Galipan4.jpg

From there, we went to an area known as San José de Galipán. We stopped to refresh ourselves and eat something at a small rural restaurant called El Rincon de La Cascada.

Galipan5.jpg

Once we had regained our strength, the next step from this place was a 15-minute walk to visit the natural pools of San José de Galipán.

Galipan6.jpg

After a narrow path that was a bit slippery at some points, we arrived at the natural pools. There were people there taking a dip.

Galipan7.jpg

There were two pools separated by a rockfall. The first one, we learned is called the Men's pool, and the second one is the women's pool. The names are because in the old days, when the town of San Jose de Galipan was established, the society was very conservative, and women were not allowed to bathe with men.

Galipan8.jpg

I tried to take a dip, but I didn't get past my waist 😂 The water was freezing. And it started to drizzle.

Galipan9.jpg

As it was drizzling and we still wanted to visit a waterfall, we went back to the trail. This small stretch took us along the same trail we took to get there but we took a small detour. It was the most difficult stretch I walked in the whole excursion. I decided to do it with water shoes, so as not to waste time changing my shoes. I don't recommend it, I won't say more 🤣

Galipan10.jpg

But I did arrive at La Batea waterfall. It is beautiful and impressive.

Galipan11.jpg

The waterfall goes down the rocks that seem to be carved as if they were huge steps.

Here after an attempt to get closer to the waterfall and a slight slip, I decided that this was as close as I would get. At this point, suddenly started to rain a little harder.

So we walked back to the restaurant to change our clothes.

Galipan14.jpg

But the river was increasing its flow because of the rain.

Galipan13.jpg

Galipan12.jpg

We had to wait as we could not cross to where the 4x4 was parked. But at the end, the vehicle crossed the river to pick us up and continue with the last stage of the excursion. But before leaving, I took a picture of that vintage typewriter they had on the bar of the restaurant that I thought was very cool.

Galipan19.jpg

The next place we visited offered us an incredible view of the Picacho de Galipan at sunset.

Galipan16.jpg

Galipan17.jpg

It was like the house of my dreams. And we went there because the people who live in the house, also have a small artisan chocolate business called Chocolate Picacho.

Galipan18.jpg

Galipan20.jpg

The garden was also beautiful.

Galipan21.jpg

And of course, they offered us their products and a chocolate tasting. I only bought dark chocolate with more than 70% cocoa for my husband because of the diet we have at home.

Galipan22.jpg

Galipan23.jpg

We lingered for a while taking pictures of the incredible view of the Picacho and the sunset and soaking up some more of the mountain's energy before returning to the road.

Galipan24.jpg

Galipan25.jpg

.

One last stop in Boca de Tigre for a hot chocolate that we bought at a small stand called Sabores de Galipan. By that time the temperature had dropped. And then back to the city.

A pleasant excursion that I would love to repeat with the husband next time.

Thank you for reading.

Hello dear friend @coquicoin good afternoon
What a beautiful place you have visited, I love the natural pools, it is incredible that in ancient times they had to bathe separately. What a shame you couldn't take a dip and it started to rain.
It's good that they could take their temperature by drinking hot chocolate.
Beautiful hiking experience, you have taken some very beautiful shots

If the water did not go past your waist, I understand why there are two different pools. No one wants the women flashing their goods 😅

I love how cute everything is. Even that restaurant. Things are always more pronounced when surrounded by nature.

Ohoo, I want to take a dip on that pool in the middle of the forest, it'll be amazing if I'm with the fam, uwu. It looks pretty, but if it's cold, then nah uh. The falls looks amazing too. Just whoa, so you witness a lot of beautiful things in this excursion. But how's the legs after your long journey? (≧▽≦)

What a great excursion Super Eli!I thought there was going to be some tunes bursting forth.

I love water and the waterfall is just awesome and that wee typewriter jeje what a find, is that what you used to write your post.

I'm joking and I nearly choked when I read about hot chocolate because it was getting cold!!!

Haha, no tunes today although I can think of a few right now. We got flooded in the apartment because of a problem with the heater and I woke up almost floating in the water two hours ago. That's why I'm awake at this hour!

The typewriter was cool. But you know what? I have a vintage one too that belonged to my grandfather and Carlos and Rodrigo have never wanted to get rid of it. And it works, lol

Haha! Here if the temperature is at 15 degrees it's already cold enough for hot chocolate 😂😂

Oh no, I hope everything is okay now!

We turned off the main water tap in the apartment and spent more than an hour draining water and drying the floor. We have to call the plumber first thing in the morning.

I'm so exhausted that I can't sleep.

Wow that sounds a mess indeed. I hope that wee cat was not being mischievous and caused it jeje!

A total mess ... I guess that some inlet pipe to the heater is damaged because there seems to be no damage to the wall.
Milo didn't cause it! But mischievous he was! Imagine all that activity during the night, which is when he likes to be awake. It was like a party for him 😹 although he didn't like the water very much!

Yes I was wondering if Milo was going water skiing lol.

I hope the plumber can fix it easily for you Super Eli and that you get some sleep too!
