Beer with or without gluten. Do they taste the same?

Hello, Hivers and Beer lovers!

Happy start of the week to all of you. From time to time I like to take some beer from the supermarket to share with my hubby at home on the weekend. And a couple of weeks ago, I found in the supermarket near my house that they were selling Estrella Galicia. I usually take local brands of beer but despite being imported this one was at a very good price and I remembered that my husband likes it a lot, as we used to drink it when we visited my sister-in-law in Santiago de Compostela.

I was also surprised that they had a gluten-free version and it cost the same. I don't know how it is where you live but here gluten-free products are usually more expensive. I was curious to see if there was any difference in taste between the two versions. So I took a couple of beers of each to go with some burgers that the hubby was making at home.

.

Do they taste the same?

Well, we are not beer experts but for us, both versions tasted exactly the same.

We saw that the ingredients of both were the same.

Water, barley malt, corn, and hops.

And that also surprised us. Because I thought barley was not allowed in gluten-free diets. So I guess this barley malt has a special process. Who knows?

Both are golden in color. And very similar if not the same in appearance.

Estrella Galicia beer is a lager with a light taste and chilled is very refreshing. And that day it was perfect in both versions with the burgers my hubby made.

I was in charge of the fries. Lately, I've got the perfect way to make them in the air fryer.

I used to find them a little dry in the air fryer, but I have found that if I boil them for a few minutes beforehand without letting them cook through and then put them in the air fryer, they are crispy but soft on the inside. Perfect!

This is my participation in #BeerSaturday week 363. And now it's my turn to invite my friend @tengolotodo, who I know has just arrived from vacation. I'm sure you have enjoyed some cheeky beers these days, Super Ed. So share with us by writing a post in any language about beer with at least 3 pictures.

Thank you for reading.

That burger looks beautiful, looks really yummy. I never tried a beer before, but even that has a gluten free version, that's cool ha.

My husband is an expert at making burgers hehe. And you might like that beer because it has a mild flavor.

I wonder how much gluten makes it through the fermentation process?

I guess I could Google My Question

Web MD says that they can detect gluten in beer. They mentioned 30 parts per million which only a small fraction of the gluten found in bread.

Hi, what a great combination burgers, fries and beer, I love it. I like beer especially when it's very hot, but I prefer them not malty. I see you had a good weekend and it's nice for a change. Excellent week.❤️🥰

Hello @coquicoin good morning

It's good that you enjoy a beer with your husband on the weekends.

What you say is true, there is always a bit of abuse in the prices of special products such as gluten-free and diet products, I don't know why it shouldn't be like that, which is good that you will find a special beer at the same price as traditional ones

I couldn't say if the beers taste the same, I've never tried a beer before.

Very curious about gluten-free beer!... Undoubtedly this "unglutenification" (or whatever you can call it) is reaching everywhere hahaha :))... A very interesting post as always! .. And extra round of applause for that burger and those potatoes looking perfect both!...
