A hiking afternoon at La Fila
Hello, Hivers and Wednesday walkers!
A couple of days ago, I went with my friends to the mountain once again. I love these hikes and we do them whenever the weather lets us in. Lately, it rains a lot in the afternoons. But that day, the afternoon was beautiful. A little earlier, there had been a quick shower that seemed to have cleared the atmosphere, and although with some clouds, most of the sky was blue and clear.
The views were gorgeous. And Caracas gave us one of those beautiful afternoons that I love so much and that make these little hikes to this place so rewarding.
From the viewpoint, the view was beautiful as always and the clouds looked like cotton balls on the top of Avila.
Every day there seems to be more vegetation. Everything is very green because of the rain. Even some trails are becoming a bit difficult to walk. My friend S has said next time she will bring pruning shears with her, haha.
Despite all the vegetation on these trails, it is rare to see any flowers other than the typical white wildflowers that are everywhere. So these pretty fuchsia flowers were a nice surprise. My friend Google Lens tells me that they are called Mirabilis jalapa or commonly Dondiego de Noche. I loved the name.
That day we had the company of our official guardian, Choco, our boy in the group, who enjoys these walks as much as we do. And sometimes he stresses us out too. Not be fooled by his size and friendly appearance. When he meets with other dogs, regardless of their size, he barks looking for a fight.
When we were on our way back, the light was beautiful. Sunset was approaching.
El Avila was looking clearer, only a few clouds remained. We stopped for a while at the lookout point to chat and admire the majestic view.
It would have been perfect to see the sunset from that viewpoint, but it would not have been very nice to go down in the dark. We have seen small snakes on a couple of occasions in the past, so we went down while it was still light.
As we were coming down the mountain looking further east of the city, through the clouds, we could watch the moon. Do you see it?
It was a lovely afternoon. With a lot of chatting. And as always, when we go to this little oasis of nature called Parque La Fila, we ended up with our batts charged.

Yes, the sunset must be magnificent from there, but I tell you it is not nice to be there in the dark and from there to the foot of the mountain there is about fifteen minutes walk.

Here has been raining also, especially in the afternoons. But when the rains give us a break we take the chance :)
Glad you are into hiking now and getting close to nature. I love the view too. It's so relaxing up there.. You should do this more often ☺️.. It's a great cardio exercise..

Oh, yes I'm doing it often. When the rain doesn't ruin the plan, we go up at least a couple of times a week. And the rest of the days, I'm walking in the nearby park.

What beautiful views of Caracas in the afternoon after a downpour!!!... Excellent photos of an excellent hike @coquicoin friend!
I have the "DondeDiego de Noche" flowers here in my backyard and they grow easily from seeds... My mother calls them "Jazmin de la noche" because these plants open their flowers only when the afternoon falls and the sunlight is dim, staying all night open and closing at dawn... Are beautiful flowers and they are available in white, yellow, blue and even mixed colors!... It's funny, but I've never seen them here in the wild!

What a view! The mountains and clouds look majestic. I missed the walks. This reminds me to take advantage of the beautiful weather we are experiencing these days.
