Do not expect people to treat you the same way you treat others

Happy Sunday fam

One of the most painful things is when you have been a giver but when you needed help, no one turned up for you, everyone kept saying they did not have a different kind of excuse.

Then you remember how you have sacrificed your things to help the ingrate but when you needed their help, none was ready or they also did not have it because they are so comfortable being at the receiving end that they never think the giver might need their help someday. They need to learn how to be a giver and not just to receive.

I found myself in such a predicament many years ago, I was in Jss 1, which happened in school.

I hate to see people hungry or thirsty, so even If I do not have much and people tell me they are hungry or need money for water, I can give them the last card in my pocket, I have been designed this way because I know how it feels to be hungry and I do not wish to see my fellow in such a situation

I was living with my sister then and the money she gave me was enough for me to eat, we used to have two breaks, the first was the long break which was around 11 o clock A.m to 12:00 p.m. and we had the lesson break that last for 45 minutes which is from 2 p.m to 2:45 p.m.

On that fateful day, I lost the 5naira I kept for pure water while playing football during the lesson break and it was when they rang the bell for lesson break over that I wanted to buy water I realized what happened, I was feeling so thirsty because it was a sunny day, I hate begging because I was not brought up that way but the thirst that day made me break my own rule, the first two people I approached did not give me money and I even saw one of them with money, that infuriate me because I have been approached by many people like that and I do help.

After being turned down by the second person who had the money but refused to help, I decided not to beg anyone for money or water again, I would rather die of thirst than beg someone else again, on my way to class, I saw people with water but I did not approach them, it was hell in the classroom, I could not even concentrate and I was just hoping they would ring the last bell so I can go home.

My eyes were already red by the time they rang the bell to go home by 5p.m, the distance from school to home was 30 minutes of trekking, Even on my way home, I saw a place they sold water and saw students drinking water there but I did not branch, the person that turned me down already made me angry, I was angry and bitter when I got home, my sister was like what happened to me because my face was dull and eyes red, I told her nothing.

Luckily, she was drinking garri with cold water when I entered, I first joined her to drink it and I felt relaxed lol.

I learned some good lessons that day.

Never expect people to treat you the same way you treat them

  • Being nice to people does not guarantee that others will be nice to you when you need help.

Don't judge others because of the way one person treated you

  • I could have gotten someone to give me water if I did not stop asking, but I was angry with the person who refused to give me when he had it.

I learned in The one Minute Millionaire, you are one no away from a yes. Never give up.

Seriously, it's annoying when you've been so giving and then find yourself in need, only to be let down.

I mean, I would have been angry too after being turned down for something as basic as water on a scorching day

As it is, it's a harsh reality that not everyone operates with the same level of empathy and reciprocity.

But at least you had the chance to enjoy some garri and cold water in the end, right? Always a silver lining!

and who gave me the garri and cold water? family! which means we must always prioritize family first in everything we do

Truly Givers never lack but some people are really good at discouraging you to help others when they can’t reciprocate the energy you rendered to them

I don't know what's running inside some people's head but some are just ungrateful, who refused to reciprocate the help they're given when a person is in times of need. I have to remember the second lesson and keep it with me because I tend to always forget it. I hardly ask enough after a few no's.

yea in the midst of unhelpful ones we shall find the kind ones if we persevere and not let the bad ones discourage us

Could you imagine! Did you know this has made so many people not to give again because they give all the time but when they are in need, no one cares. It's really annoying and even I too would be damn angry.

Truly, we shouldn't expect people to treat us the same way we treat them. Such things only happens in politics😅 you scratch my back, I scratch yours.
