Introduction

Welcome to our Community Highlight section where we shine a light on all the good work happening in the hive ecosystem. From game communities, to gender communities, to even projects with just a shared goal in mind. We are planning to cover all of them.

The aim of this idea is to use our audience (which is fairly large for hive (Hi mom!)) to show the community and beyond all the good work other communities are doing across hive. These aren't necessarily projects, these could just be communities with a shared goal or vision for the betterment of their users.

I'm looking to showcase the best and brightest here. Looking to give a wider audience to those that are working hard every day to achieve something better. And who might not necessarily have the same audience reach as what we do. Sometimes we'll host communities with bigger audiences though! And that's cool too.

Right, on with the show!

The Man Cave Project

1. Hive is relatively small, and I feel that most people know each other here. Since you own a community then I'm sure 99.99% of people on here have heard of you. So, tell us something that we don't know. Something new about yourself.

My life has been quite varied and I've blogged about most of it.

Okay here's one!

One of my earliest memories is playing in Russia (old USSR) when my dad was stationed over there to work in nuclear power. I remember playing on a little river, and at the end of the river there was a man screaming at me with a barking dog telling me to get lost in Russian.

I remember going back home to tell my mother what happened and she told me off for going near there because she told me I wasn't allowed to play near there.

I didn't realise this until about a year ago but what I was playing near was an old Russian gulag. Damn! I was only 4.

Luckily the guards had been briefed on who we were and what we were there for so I was safe.

2. Tell us what your community is and what is its goals

Well, we are The Man Cave Project. I really want to be a place where men come come and learn, earn, share, and care, but I guess right now that's a future goal because I'm still building that vision out. Right now we're just a glorified crypto chat.

We will get there though! Plenty of decent guys in there already.

3. What first inspired you to come to hive?

Would you believe it if I told you that I was actually sitting in the BRO token chat? Heh. Funny how things work out like that, but this was a different BRO token. It was a gaming token called Breakout Gaming. Anyway, someone came in screaming that hive was a scam and to stay away, and well, I'm drawn to what people scared of risks run away from, and well, here I am 7+ years later.

4. Is there anything unique about hive other than its decentralization and free transfers that you enjoy?

The potential of community. That's one thing that other tokens really fall short on, and well, we do to a certain extent too. If you look at traditional social media then they all have millions and millions of users, yet they pay them nothing and they still use it daily.

I feel we can learn something from this. There's great power in community. If only we could stop seeing dollar bills for a moment to realise that.

5. Is there anything about your community that sets you apart from the rest?

Yup. You'll only get straight honest answers in the BRO chat. We're free speech lovers and we don't hold back. Before you release any token that you want taken seriously you should test it out in our chat first.

In our community you will know where you stand. But we're also fiercely loyal. Something I'm quite proud of creating.

6. You're walking along and you stumble across a golden lamp. Hearing the urban legends of old in your childhood, you rub it, poof, out pops a magic genie and grants you one wish. The only stipulation is the wish can't be for you and any of your immediate family or friends. What do you wish for?

For @Trumpman to trip up and accidentally fall on his mums dick? Okay, perhaps I'm joking there, but for me it would have to be I'd create abundant energy. Free, abundant energy. So abundant that even a little kid could make enough to power a house for a year and be safe to do so. That would do two things:

  1. Stop asshole energy companies.
  2. Lift most people out of poverty.

Abundant energy would completely transform our civilisation.

7. Name something that makes you proud of what your community has achieved together

Would have to say how fiercely loyal everyone is. We've definitely created a community that sticks together and works together.

8. What do you most dislike about hive?

Would have to be the nepotism. I know us small projects get blamed for that quite a lot, but there are certain things that don't get done on hive if certain dicks don't get sucked. We are guilty of this true. I guess it's the negatives of every community based projects.

9. Ending on a positive note. Where do you see your community in 5 years?

Competing with Bitcoin? Haha. No, well, I see us having completed our objectives by then. 5 years is a long time and I expect to have done quite a lot by then.

And that's it!

Thank you to me, for interviewing me, err.. as crazy as that sounds. But I hope you've enjoyed this one!
