WUF, Tokenized Diamonds, and Glint, Oh My!

It's a pretty good week when I get to use a photo of our dog Jovi two days in a row to highlight a post. Yesterday she was couch surfing with me and today we are digging into another dog based meme coin.

Before we get to that though, let's talk about the markets. They've been in a bit of limbo lately. My best advice... Get used to it. Despite all the hype about the halving, we have a lot of sideways movement ahead of us I think. We might see some small pumps here and there, but they will likely level back out before we see the real action towards the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

That's the word on the street anyway, and honestly, I am okay believing that. It helps you keep a level head and stay focused on the long term. Getting wrapped up in the FOMO right now can lead to a whole lot of heartbreak down the road.

It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the community.

WUFFI

If you are a WAX holder, you may or may not want to pay attention to this next part. Trying to jump on board the meme token craze, the WAX team has decided to launch their own crypto called WUFFI. The token itself is called WUF and you can read more about it here.

Now, before you go out and buy a ton of WAX, the snapshot has already happened, but at current prices WAX is still a great deal, so I am not going to stop you if you want to. As I said though, if you already hold some, you might want to keep an eye out for this.

Like most meme coins, the mint numbers are ridiculous on this one. I think I have a couple million tokens coming my way if I remember right.

I'm not expecting too much (especially given the fact that WAX can't even seem to get its legs under it), but there are two things that give me a small degree of hope for WUFFI. First, it appears they are trying to at least give a little bit of utility to the token which is more than can be said for most meme coins.

Second, they aren't just launching WUF on WAX, but they are also launching it on Solana. Solana is a bit of a golden child right now, so anything tied to it has the potential to do kind of decent. Personally, I'd be more than happy to dump a million or so of these for a profit.

Will WUF be a winner, or a Wiff (not that one)? That remains to be seen...

Tokenized Diamonds

I know RWA (Real World Assets) seem to be a bit of a buzzword lately. It's possible that RWAs could be the NFTs of the next bull run. Let's just hope that RWAs are rolled out a bit more carefully than NFTs, so we can skip past the whole bubble phase and just get to the everyday use case part of it.

I've seen a couple of people in the #silvergoldstackers community talk about tokenization of gold once or twice already, so I was kind of interested when this article came across my feed.

It sounds like the Avalanche Chain is going to be joining the RWA space with a security token that is backed by the Diamond Standard Fund. With the global diamond market clocking in at a cool 1.2 trillion dollars, there could be a lot of money pumping into a RWA like this.

Don't get too excited though, I'm guessing your girlfriend isn't going to be okay getting proposed to with a digital diamond. You're still going to need to pony up for the real thing!

Splinterlands

I haven't posted about Splinterlands in a while. I have about seven pieces of land that I have just been grinding away on. Those pieces of land are all held by my main account. I mainly use that account for brawls which are still my favorite part of the game right now. I have another account that I use to rent out some of my high value cards for what has become a pittance of DEC each day. Then I have two other accounts that I use for daily quests.

I actually got some pretty decent end of season rewards this past time. I'm going to spare you and not show you everything I got, but I did score some nice gold foil cards, a handful of legendaries and even one or two gold foil legendaries. That hardly ever happens to me.

Sadly, I wasn't able to go very hard into Rebellion, so I have yet to earn an airdrop card. I've been picking up some gold foil rebellion cards here and there on the secondary market to fill some wagons, but I still haven't been able to snag an airdrop. Maybe next time...

Finally, I am still trying to wrap my head around this whole GLINT thing. The fact that it can't be traded is a bit concerning and I have seen a fair number of people start to question their future in the game. These aren't small accounts either which should be a bit of a red flag for people.

I might have missed it, but was GLINT something we voted on or was it just something that was implemented? I don't remember voting on it. Then again, there have been so many proposals and pre-proposals lately, who can keep track!
