It's not rivalry week, but it sure feels like it!

It's a big weekend for some college teams as we enter into what I think of as the unofficial rivalry week. If you follow college football, you know that he actual rivalry week is sometime in November when Michigan faces Ohio State along with some other big conference match ups.

This weekend is kind of the precursor to that with Michigan facing Michigan State for a bit of an instate rivalry. Likewise in the Big 10, Penn State is going head to head with Ohio State in what might end up being the game of the season.

As much as I hate to admit, it, Michigan has a great team. I don't expect Sparty to stand much chance against them. I'll likely watch the game, but there is a good chance I will turn it off part way through if things get really out of hand.

If there was one game I was actually looking forward to this weekend, it would definitely be that Penn State/Ohio State game. Should Ohio State come out victorious, that game during the true rivalry week will take on a whole new meaning. Assuming OSU or UofM doesn't lose a game between now and then.

It's almost too bad that PSU/OSU game is on at noon because it should be a prime time game all day every day.

Other big college games to keep an eye on this weekend include #17 Tennessee at #11 Alabama, and #14 Utah at #18 USC. You might want to keep an eye on #16 Duke at #4 Florida State, but I kind of have a feeling the Seminoles will roll over the Dukes. Especially given the fact it is a home game for them.

My niece has her final home tournament of the season before she heads down to Tennessee for their final fall ball outing. She hit an impressive .667 this past weekend, so I expect she will be returning with that same intensity and drive.

Finally, in the NFL, The Lions have a big game against the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore this weekend. I don't consider any game an easy game for the Lions. They need to fight and claw for every win this year. If they don't, they are likely going to fall into the same trap they have every other year.

This game will go a long way towards proving the Lions are the team that every Detroit fan hopes they are this year. That early season loss to the Seahawks caused us to falter a little bit, but we still bleed Honolulu Blue.

If you are not a Lions fan and you are looking for another key match up to watch on Sunday, I'd probably point you towards the Eagles/Dolphins game. Both teams are 5-1 on the season, so this could be a really good game between two teams fighting for a top spot come the playoffs.

There are a handful of 3-2/3-3 match ups that might be fun to keep on in the background while you are playing around on Hive. Namely, Steelers/Rams, Falcons/Bucs, and Browns/Colts. I feel like those games could go either way. They might also have some pretty decent betting lines in terms of returns if you are into that sort of thing.

As I said in my post yesterday, I will likely be passing on any sports bets this weekend.

I've been watching a little bit of the MLB playoffs lately. I have to say, I'd love to see a world series between The Rangers and The Phillies. It actually looks like it is heading that way already, but there are several games to be played yet.

Either way, there is a good chance I will be watching at least one game of the world series this season, whether it is at home or in a bar somewhere.
