The cheapest and the most productive way to curate on Hive

avatar

In the face of the high level of volatility and wicked dump in the market, I thought I'd talk about something other than the fact we're all going to be poor. Curating on Hive can be your full-time job, and it can come in handy particularly in times as these.

Making a profit on Hive is pretty simple. However, you still have to play your cards right and put yourself in favourable positions.

Out of the numerous ways to make a profit on Hive, curation is rather interesting. Think of it as the proof of brain part of the network. This is the part where you find relatable content and then put your stake to work.

Earning from curation on Hive can be a tad bit tedious if you don't have a decent amount of Hive power. So, while it is still the most profitable, there are still other ways to stack tokens for your curation activities.

Second Layer

The second layer of Hive is something that I've championed for a long time. I've consistently grown my portfolio in that neck of the woods and for the most part, I think it has been profitable.

The beautiful part about the second layer is that many of the assets there don't cost a fortune. This makes it much easier to buy a decent volume of a token and just curate with it.

To keep things simple for me, I try not to place too much emphasis on the dollar value of the asset. I just try to increase the volume in my portfolio, stake as much as I can, and then put it to work.

In this publication, I highlight some second layer tokens and front-end that I personally use to earn regularly from just "liking" content.

Cine

If you watch movies, TV series and stuff like that, then you should really give Cine TV a chance. The token is very cheap but also very scarce.

You can throw $10-20 worth of swap.hive into the token and then get a decent amount staked. Use the staked tokens to curate regularly, and something good could come out of it.

Proof of Brain

If you're looking for a cheap front-end to curate and have spare $10-20 to invest, then you should consider using Proof of Brain front-end.

This platform is a general content front-end and most people on Hive actually use the tag.

Curating on POB has been very productive for me and due to a large number of people using the tag, there's always something to curate, thus making earning from the front-end very fast.

Sports Talk Social

As the name implies, this is a front-end that's meant for sports-related content. The Sports token is listed on Hive-engine.

With only $20, you could buy nearly 900k of the token and start curating. You earn passively for liking fun content.

Splintertalk

SPT rose in popularity due to the SPS airdrop and it has retained a fairly high value. However, all things considered, SPT is still pretty cheap.

With a little investment of about $20, you could buy around 11-13k SPT tokens, stake them and start curating Splinterlands related content.

Splinterlands has risen to prominence in recent times, so there are a lot of people talking about the game.

Leofinance

Last and certainly not least, we also have Leofinance. It is a platform that I spend a lot of time on and a place I encourage many people to look into.

Leo tokens are currently trading at 18 cents each. This represents the lowest that the token has been in quite some time now.

Among all the tokens on this list, Leo is probably the most established and that is why the token is also the most expensive.

That notwithstanding, with a $20 investment on the token, you could get over 110 tokens and start curating.

It is not a lot of tokens but it is enough to get you rolling. '

Summary

All the tokens I mentioned here are tokens that I intentionally go to their front-end to curate.

There are also other tokens like CTP, VYB, Oneup, Bee, and Neoxian that I don't spend so much time on their individual front-ends. However, I still stake these tokens on my main account and earn from curating on Hive top layer because most people use these tags on their posts as well.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that I suggest you create a separate account where you delegate all your Hive-engine stake to and then use it to curate.

This approach helps you to maintain your top layer voting power on your main account. Then the tokens delegated to your alternate account can then be used to curate with no care about your voting power on your alt.

Smart strategy, makes sense. I made a post encouraging everyone to power up at least 100 $LEO in order to multiply their efforts when curating. Think of how many non $LEO holders vote LEO Finance posts but are only making $HIVE curation rewards. And at this price there no excuse to not power up $LEO. I will look into these other tokens and see where I stand on those balances as well. Great post!

Thanks for your help! I am quite new to Hive. I have seen that I am receiving something for curation.
So, is curation reward proportionate to the HP staked? How much is something giving more interesting rewards, like one dollar or more? Do you have a statistics?

You earn curation reward from "liking" content on hive. It doesn't matter where

This is exactly what I told someone. Curation on the second layer communities is the best now. I told him to stack up plenty Leo and CTP.

Thanks for sharing this.

Nice advice. Many people don't realise how much cheaper and easier it is

I completely believe that Leo is about to make another run also. The price has been pretty steady and demand is slowly increases, there is a magic point when demand outweighs sell pressure that things get real wild!

Love that part of the equation. It's a really exciting prospect

Right now you can still buy 5.5 LEO for every 1 HIVE.

Then use that increased LEO to post and curate within an extremely engaged community, where the top authors earn more in LEO than HIVE.

If you're a minnow looking to get started, LEO should be a no-brainer.
