Building a solid deck with packs

The first time I built a formidable deck, I opened a lot of untamed packs. However, back then, I waited until the end of the in-game sale and all the airdrops had been completed before opening all the packs in my possession.

I've been opening a lot of chaos legion packs in recent times, simply trying to build a formidable deck that should inevitably be able to compete in gold league on the wild side.

There's a certain kind of excitement that comes from growing your deck through opening packs. The uncertainty of what you find in the packs, coupled with the potential of getting the shakes from legendaries makes it a worthwhile experience.

I recently stumbled into a neat trick that enables me to buy airdrop worthy chaos legion packs from the game at a discount. Instead of spending $4 per pack, I spent around $2 and also benefitted from the bonus that I claimed with the vouchers that I've been piling up through staking SPS.

Buying all these packs has activated my hunger for new monsters in my personal deck and I have been opening packs regularly.

At the time of writing, my personal deck's collection power is already up to 40,360 and with at least another 20-30 packs left to open before I switch to hodling mode, I think I'm going to end up with a much improved deck with better fighting capacity.

Building with packs can be slow and expensive

As much as I enjoy building my deck with packs because of the potential of experiencing the shakes, I also have to admit that it can be a slow and expensive process.

The randomised additions to your deck may not always solve the key deficiencies you have in your collection.

There's also the fact that you need a decent number of potions to open the packs and if you're unlucky, the monsters you find in the packs might not be worth the time and investment.

Building a deck by opening packs takes quite a lot of time as well, since after opening packs you then have to start sorting the monsters you found. Upgrading, leasing or selling etc. It is a tedious process.

Making it work

Nothing good comes easy and with the packs in my possession, I'm ready to do the heavy lifting as required.

I honestly won't encourage people to build their deck with packs, as it could turn out to be underwhelming in the end. The randomised nature of monsters you find in the pack makes it a risky move to open packs and so, it is advisable that you focus on the specific monsters you want.

Then again, if you do have a couple of hundred dollars to spare, then you could also consider buying a fair bit of packs because there's a higher chance of getting the shakes. With some luck and the right card trading decisions, you could end up with a much-improved collection from opening packs.
