I think that it is very important to cast witnesses votes to support the blockchain and healthy community interests. And a great example of that is to support the @leofinance witness as it has proved the apport that it brings to the Hive blockchain. Also please notice that the witness votes need to be renewed as they expire after 1 year as it was introduced with HF25.

Do the votes expire after a year so long as you don't modify any of your witnesses or does voting/removing someone reset that timing?

Witnesses are important, but also it is important that they understand the chairman’s mechanism and can also vote no for a thing they don’t agree with, which very seldom happens.
