The advantages of being a curator on the Hive blockchain

avatar

Many of us are spending quite a bit of time on the Hive blockchain and while our account grows in time, being a curator becomes a earning routine in this ecosystem. And while we start doing our things on a daily basis as a habit, we discover in time the benefits of curating content and engaging with the others. Thinking about that I've tried to outline some of the advantages of being a curator on the Hive blockchain and why I am doing this with more energy than ever (part of it because I am expecting a new bull run cycle, which these days seems knocking at the door; hopefully this will be confirmed with the market uprising in the following weeks and months).

As a curator on the Hive blockchain, there are several advantages that we can enjoy and which keeps us going day after day. The motivations can be diverse, but a dimension that we all can agree upon is the earning out of this activity and the fact that it can sustain us one way or the other. But let's see what goodies curation can bring us.

Earn Passive Income

As curators on Hive we have the opportunity to earn passive income by discovering, evaluating, and upvoting quality content proportionally with the staked Hive Power. When we curate content in first 24 hours 50% of the upvote is return to us as yield while the incoming later votes on the same content will earn us in addition another percentage of the rewards generated from that post, which can add up over time. I like to summarize this as "what you give is what you get".

Build Reputation

As a curator, putting at good use the ability to identify and promote quality content can help us build a positive reputation within the Hive communities. By consistently curating valuable content, we can establish ourselves as an interested and passionate figure and gain recognition for the curation efforts. This will bring us more appreciation through upvotes from within the community and even also some curation trails that will pop up whenever we are publishing content ourselves.

Discover New Content and Communities

As a curator we have the opportunity to explore and discover new content, communities, and authors on the Hive blockchain. This can be a great way to expand the knowledge, interests, connections and keep up with the developments within the Hive community. Ultimately we can be on the ground floor of lucrative projects that are launched in this great ecosystem that keeps on expanding.

Learning and Personal Growth

As a curator, we have the opportunity to learn and grow through exposure to different types of content, diverse perspectives, and engagement within the Hive community. This can contribute to the personal growth, knowledge, and development as a content consumer and evaluator of true and sincere content creators. We improve from seeing the work of others and also can give us subject to write ourselves.

Diversification of Rewards

By curating a diverse range of content, we can diversify the rewards distribution as well. Curating content from different niches, topics, and authors allows us to earn rewards from various communities and user bases, reducing the risk of relying on a single type of content or author for rewards.

In the end I think that without curation we would isolate ourselves and simply deafen the Hive blockchain which without engagement would fade away. When we've forked from Steem I found that the biggest strength for the Hive blockchain is the power of communities and the glue that users provide by engaging and curating valuable content. In the end it is up to us on how we want the Hive blockchain to be and we can shape it through curation and engagement.

Curation is the main way to appreciate the work of a fellow creator here and it also helps you to get recognised over time. Thanks to the hive for making such an amazing platform for it’s unique blogging and curating system. Besides self curating, I am also an official splinterlands curators for years and really love my job to read new posts and reward the authors. Great post ❤️

Splinterlands curation probably is the prime engagement from the Hive blockchain. Keep it up!

Being a curator, you will not even stress yourself that much because you are already making a passive income.
I am working towards being a curator and that will happen soon.

Being a Hive curator has its perks and benefits. Apart from the passive rewards, learning from the authors and broadening one's horizon is the one that stood out for me the most. I'm not a curator yet but I've come to learn a lot and understand things better from reading the content of other authors.

It takes a lot of time for manual curation efforts. People doing manual curation are highly commendable. They take the time to pick good articles and curate. You said it right . Communities play a very important role in curation. People can easily choose a niche and write on that.

I usually do manual curation, only when my work bites from my ass I cast upvotes to top rated posts, otherwise I try to spread them as much as possible.

I put aside an hour or so a day for curation. I'm getting quicker at it as I do it more. There's always some nice surprises and content that I wouldn't expect to read or people I wouldn't normally meet. It is like Forest Gump's box of chocolates, I'm never quite sure what I'm going to get! :D

Yeah I also think that sometimes I miss some important posts and updates. I only visit my friends feed most of the time. But there are so many other articles out there too. Curation does give a facility to keep looking for some great contents.

Yes you do become more involved and engage with others you possibly wouldn't under normal circumstances which is good for overall growth.

Curation is a true organic engagement and channel of growth for us as individuals and the entire Hive blockchain as a whole.

Exactly this! Thanks for truly understanding what curation is. So much more than pressing a button and waiting seven days for some HIVE dust to arrive onto your pile. It is about nurturing your fellow human beings.

Those who don't have money and are working on this project have more difficulties because they have to make fifty comments daily and have good content and those who put money into it and work as a curator have an easy job. I love doing Author work because one gets to learn a lot when one comments on people's posts and interacts with them.

We all start from somewhere and through our involvement on the platform and the projects from here we diversify and grow constantly.

I've been making about 50 comments a day over the last few weeks. Not because there's some sort of demented quota I have set myself, or been set by someone else, but because I have managed to get carried away in engaging conversations with people about their content that then devolve into conversations about anything and everything.

There's some great friendships you will find here.

It's for sure a Win, Win.... Win... Situation 😂😎

Its sad that a lot of people just jump on here thinking they'll earn a quick buck... And don't be mistaken ALOT of people do.. And they do infact make a quick buck but those that do actually put effort into what they share..

No sweat, no gain

Wouldn't have encountered you and your brilliant posts if I wasn't manually curating! :) Have an awesome day!

You forgot one element. Making friends and having engaging discussions with them. Curating is more than just pressing a button to bestow an award. It is saying hello, it is checking in with your favourite people, and encouraging them to stick around. Give them that experienced of shared accountability, and they'll keep showing up, like a gym-buddy.

I like to think I've made a few fresh friends since I started curating manually.

I find that being an active curator is a good thing and I have been a bit more social on the blockchain since doing so. Before Hive, I was never really that active on the commenting so I was more of a passive consumer. I feel that I have improved by writing down my thoughts in words.
