The Nightmarish Monster, CURSED WINDEKU!

photo_2022-12-31_13-32-47.jpg

Hello Everyone!
I'm back again to share my Splinterlands post, to take part in the Splinterlands Weekly Battle Challenge. Well, This week's theme is one of the Chaos Legion Death monsters, Cursed Windeku. A monster that is a favorite tank of many people because from level 1 already has the ability Thorn. I'm going to share the battle strategy that I applied to the Diamond battle rank, using my Cursed Winde which I combined with the Legendary Neutral Summoner, Lux Vega.

This strategy can be applied to Gold leagues and above, but it may be a little ineffective when applied to Novice leagues to Silver because of the level differences that make the abilities unlocked in each monster can be different. I'm neither a proplayer nor a tournament hero. I just enjoys sharing strategy and battles that I find interesting in my own view. So don't imagine this is going to be a very extraordinary battle. Well, let's see what this battle looks like, and what strategy I use in the rulesets in this battle.

Before getting into the main of this post, let's first get acquainted with my Cursed Windeku!

stats.png

The picture above shows the Stats of Cursed Windeku, where the millestone of each level increase is quite good. Having mana 6, this monster is very suitable to be used as a tank for low and middle mana battles. At level 1 of this monster, Thorn's ability is already active, and the additional Heal ability is active at Level 5 or in the Gold league, the max level of this monster will be active additional ability low.

There is no speed increase from each level increase, which means that this monster can be used in normal rulesets or in Reverse Speed rulesets. Unfortunately, this monster does not have armor, which means that in conditions where the opposing team has a higher average speed and only focuses on attacking at one point, maybe this monster will die before fighting back.

For now, this monster is included in the starter card which means that anyone can use this monster without having to own it themselves, even those who don't have a Spellbook can do battles using this monster. But if you want to buy or rent this monster, the price is still affordable. Last day I rented the max level of this monster only 25 Dec/day.

If you are interested in knowing the Lore of this monster you can read it at Splinterlands Cursed Windeku Lore.

STRATEGY BATTLE

rulesets.png

There are 2 rulesets in this battle, namely Fog of War (Monsters lose Sneak and Snipe abilities) and Explosive Weaponry (All Monsters have the Blast ability) with 18 and fire-active element, Earth and Death.

This is a low mana battle where the selection of monsters to be used must be carefully considered, especially the rulesets that make the attack focused on tanks or full opportunities. However, it seems impossible if the full opportunity attack strategy is applied because of the limitations of monsters in the active element. So broadly speaking, the strategy that I will use is to choose a strong tank in low mana battle and then use 1 other monster that focuses as an attacker. What is certain is that behind the tank there must be a monster that has a Reflection Shield.

Let's see what monsters I choose in my formation, and what kind of strategy I will use in the table below!

MonsterPositionAbilityStrategy
lux.pngLux VegaSummoner+1 Speed, +1 Armor, +1HPLegendary Neutral Summoner which buffs are given to all monsters will be very useful in this low mana battle. +1 Speed will increase the chances of winning because it can attack early, +1 Armor will protect monsters from at least 1 Melee or Ranged monster attack, and +1 HP will be very useful for monsters that have small HP.
photo_2022-12-31_13-33-05.jpgCursed WindekuFirst (Tank)Thorn, Heal, SlowWhich monster is 6 but has a large HP, and besides that has abilities that are very supportive of being a tank in low and middle battles. Having Thorn abilities that make monsters that have melee damage attack this monster, the attack will turn around, has a Heal ability that will restore HP when it is the turn of this monster to attack which makes this monster will live longer, and also has a Slow ability that reduces the opponent's speed so that the chance of attacking early will increase.
photo_2022-12-31_13-33-05 (2).jpgVenator KinjoSecondReflection Shield, CamouflageThis monster has a Shield ability which means it doesn't take damage from blast. This will make the blast of the opponent's attack go nowhere until the Tank dies it will only hit this monster which means nothing.
photo_2022-12-31_13-33-05 (3).jpgChaos AgentThirdDodge, Phase, BackfireTanks without attacks that when Cursed Windeku dies, the blast from the opponent's attack that hits Venator Kinjo will hit this monster. The position of this monster is indeed as a tank that protects the monsters behind so that it can last longer.
photo_2022-12-31_13-33-04.jpgCorpse FiendFourthNoneThe role of this monster is the same as that of Chaos Agent, which is as a tank to receive blasts. If this monster dies, it means that Doctor Blight's HP will also increase due to Scavenger ability.
photo_2022-12-31_13-33-04 (2).jpgDoctor BlightLast (Attacker)Affliction, Camouflage, Poison, Scavenger, WeakenLegedary monsters are very strong and must be in low mana battles, because of their abilities. This monster is the core attacker in this battle, although the speed is only 1. Affliction will make the target unable to Heal, Camouflage will make this monster invisible unless it is in the first position, Poison that hits the target will make the target lose 2HP in each round, Scavenger makes this monster's HP increase by 1 every time another monster dies, and Weaken which reduces 1 HP.

Just like me, the opponent also uses the Summoner Lux Vega combined with the monsters of the Death element. In the first position as a tank, the opponent uses Nightmare level 8 which has speed 6 and Phase ability. I thought that the magic attack from Doctor Blight would be difficult to hit this monster. In the second position, there is a Venator Kinjo max level where all abilities have been unlocked, namely Reflection Shield, Camouflage, Immunity, Slow, and Amplify. Next, in the third position there is Corpse Fiend, and in the last position there is the main Attacker who has 4 Range attacks with Poison ability, Soul Strangler.

LET'S JUMP TO BATTLEFIELD!

You can also see this battle through the youtube video that I listed below.

The battle begins with the giving of buffs and debuffs from all Summoners and Monsters. This battle runs quickly and only requires 5 Rounds to complete. I think the strengths of the two teams are also tied, and both have a chance to win. In terms of speed, my team has a lower average speed. Both teams have a +1 speed buff and a -1 speed debuff, which means that the monsters in this battle will be immune like the initial stats.

round1.png

The first attack starts from Nightmare who has the highest speed, followed by Soul Strangler, both of which are right on target, Cursed Windeku. Next, it's Cursed Windeku's turn to attack Nightmare after Restoring HP because of Heal ability. 1 miss attack in the first round, which is an attack from Doctor Blight that misses nightmare.

round2.png

Just like the first round, Nightmare started the second round by making an attack on Cursed Windeku, but his attack also reversed direction because he was hit by Thorn. Soul Strengler's Poison hit Cursed Windeku and was active in this round, and also the one that attracted Doctor Blight's attack which in the first round of miss, now hits the target and immediately activates the Affliction ability. Nightmare dies after being defeated by Doctor Blight.

round3.png

The third round began with Cursed Windeku being hit by Poison, and then continued with Sould Strangler's attack. After that, Venator Kinjo gets his turn to attack. The opponent's Corpse Fiend died in this round. Until the end of the round, there were 2 opposing monsters left while my team was still in full formation.

round4.png

At the beginning of round fourth, My Cursed Windeku died from an attack from Sould Strangler. The opponent's Venator Kinjo died in this round, and this means that the opponent can't fight anymore because the Ranged Monster can't attack if it's in the first position.

round5 end.png

Soul Strangler dies after being attacked my My Venator Kinjo and Doctor Blight. That's how the battle ended. I won by simply losing my Cursed Windeku from my Formation. You can see battle results by looking at the image below.

STRATEGY DISCUSS!

The strategy I applied worked very well in this battle. Cursed windeku performed his duties as a good tanker. Although the speed is not good enough, luckily all the opponent's attacks can be overcome by Cursed windeku. In the future I will continue to use Cursed windeku again in my battles. It's a favorite but I quite love this monster.

CONCLUTION

Advantages :

  • Thorns ability is already active from level 1,
  • Good tank in low manacap battles, because has high Heal Point in mana 6.
  • Speed is quite high.
  • It is in the current starter card, so at level 1 all players can play without rent or buy.

Disadvantages:

  • Has no Armor, weak with high damage enemies.
  • The price is the most expensive compared to other rare monster Chaos Legions.

In "death" deck there is no "tank heal" behind to heal the tank, so seeing "Cursed Windeku" with "heal" is
incredible and that made the difference in the battle... and I like how "Venator Kinjo" is immune to the "blast".👍👍👍
