A Stylish Boubou For A Beautiful Client.

Hello needle workers..

It's a new week and I have a project to share with you.

A stylish bubu dress for Auntie, (the name I love to call her) most African older women love rocking boubou dresses more than anything lately.

For quite a while now, most of them come into my office for a boubou dress and well for some reason I love to make it for them.

The style is less stressful and is never time-consuming and you don't have the stress of turning each piece with lining as you just need to neatly turn the neckline, sleeves and hem.

This doesn't mean that the inside seam will look so unkempt, as I love to make my work neat inside out.

The fabric for this style is the African print usually known as Ankara in my country.

Ankara is of different qualities and textures but this is one of the most expensive Ankara in town.

I do tell my client that the yards of fabrics given to me will determine how good the chosen style will look.

She wanted a very cowl bubu with a puffy sleeve but then she brought in just three yards for it, and guess what, she's very chubby so obviously the fabric wasn't enough for her style so I told her to change her style or add more fabric.

She decided that I make her a nice boubou outfit to rock her first pregnancy.

This is a client who had been looking for the fruit of the womb and God blessed her now with one, she told me that no matter what it is for her to dress up at times, she has decided to look her best throughout her pregnancy and of course, I am an advocate of looking good because looking good is actually my business.

I started with cutting, the front bodice was cut alongside the sleeve, I did that by placing her body measurement, the bust, and shoulder which was 14 inches and I added an extra 9 inches for the sleeve together.

The back bodice was the same the only difference was the deep cut I did at the back to ensure it could be easily worn.

what I.

The neckline was a round one and the back had a little deep opening so that it could be easily worn.

I proceed to my sewing machine to join all the pieces together and begin to turn the neckline using a ribbon.

The next step is to join all the pieces together which I did.

I carefully turned the neckline, joined the shoulder and hemmed the sleeve including the hem of the outfit.

The outfit came out nicely and I love how simple it is.

Here are the up-close views of them and I hope you like them too.

I didn't take pictures of the back, y'all I forgot to do that.

I delivered the outfit on Saturday and after fitting it, she we really excited about the dress, she gave me some more fabrics to make more styles which I have yet to cut.

I was thinking how can you make that outfit for a chubby person with just three yards
I’m glad she changed the style
It looks so good. Let me save this for when I get pregnant
