OLIVIA @ 6

Olivia is my god daughter with whom i am well pleased. It so happened that she was born in the same month with my daughter Zizi and also in the same hospital. Infact her mother and i became so close that she have to make me her daughter's godmother to solidify our relationship.

I met Olivia's mother during my antenatal visits and she was already eight months gone while i was barely four months. She was so big that i thought that she was carrying twins. She walked up to me on that faithful day and asked where i bought the pepper soup that i was eating. I explained to her where i bought it which was quiet far from the hospital. The woman's peppersoup was one of my pregnancy cravings and i don't mind taking taxi everyday to that place just to satisfy my taste buds. I can remember how restless and angry i was the day i failed to get myself a plate of the peppersoup. The next morning i was already at the woman's shop so early to buy the peppersoup. The woman calls me Iyabeji meaning mother of twins. It's a popular name the western people from Nigeria calls all pregnant woman whether you are carrying twins or not. There was this particular day that i experienced a lot of traffic on the road and before i got to my favourite peppersoup joint everything has finished.

I cried like a baby.
Or should i say i and my unborn baby cried terribly that day because it was actually my unborn baby that was craving for the soup.

The woman consoled me and promised to be sending mine everyday to my house through dispatch raider. It was a huge relief for me and she kept to her words.
So back to my story, Olivia mum felt so disappointed to hear that the peppersoup seller doesn't stay close by. I felt for her because i know exactly what she was passing through. There was another woman that sells peppersoup three blocks from the hospital and i told her to go get some there. Little did i know that her unborn baby would reject that particular peppersoup. She came back to where i was and told me that she didn't like the peppersoup. I felt sorry for her again but there was little i can do to help her at that moment. I promised to give her the mobile number of the peppersoup seller so that she can order for hers next time. Before i can bring out my phone from my handbag, she started shedding tears uncontrollably.

Pregnancy cravings is something else. Sometimes it feels like you are going to die if you didn't eat that particular food.

People started asking her if everything was ok with her but she ignored all of them. I have to bring out the leftover peppersoup in my possession and she immediately wiped her eyes filled with tears. Her eyes were filled with gratitude as she thanked me and within minutes she finished the peppersoup. Since then we became so close that we started going to the peppersoup joint together during antenatal days.

Oneday she called me around 2am in the morning and informed me that they were headed to the hospital because her water broke. She asked that i buy the peppersoup and bring to the hospital for her. When i got to the hospital around 10am she had already given birth to a bouncing baby girl and i was so happy but ...

She rejected the peppersoup.

She said it tasted like goat piss. I laughed out loud asking her if she have ever tasted goat piss before.
Today the baby that was actually the in love with the peppersoup clocked 6 and we all went to her school to make her feel really special.

Her mother calls her The peppersoup eater.

Hehehehehe you are the third person to actually say this. My love for pepper soup then was also pregnancy cravings. When you are pregnant a lot of usual foods and fruits will turn out to be your favourite . Like pineappe
