Saturday Savers 2023 Progress Report Week 14

I woke up yesterday all ready to make my #Saturdaysavers update. Then I remembered it was Easter and Good Friday, not Saturday at all. Well, today rushed by in a flash, not sure where the day went, but I've just got back in so it's time to do the update !

If you're not familiar with SaturdaySavers, it's a fabulous initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account, where we all support each other in getting to our savings goals.

Here's this week's table of progress;

Week 14 has been an odd one.

I made a right boo-boo when it came to HP. In a rush of poorly thought-through enthusiasm, I thought I'd take the Saturday Savers idea of a daily increase in the amount of whatever is being saved, merge it with the Hivebuzz Power Up Month idea, and start by powering up 10 HP on day 1, 11 HP on day 2 etc. I feel stupid, I should have done the maths first ! I'd need to have (or buy) 696 HIVE to make that work, which is waaaay more than I can afford in a single month.

I did it for a few days, so at least it helped me power up a bunch more HIVE than I otherwise would have done. In the process uncovered a small surprise; Hivebuzz only half recognises British Summer time. So a couple of times, I powered up and it didn't pick it up because although Hivebuzz had moved it's calendar on to the next day, it thought the power up was still happening the previous day so didn't count it. Lesson learned - wait until it is thoroughly the next day.

On HBD, I was lucky enough to both get decent rewards and take advantage of a brief pump to swap some liquid HIVE into HBD. Somehow I'm managing to retain my position in the top 500, which makes me far happier than it should. 16.115 HBD interest is also nice to see. However, the US Dollar crashing from 1.18 to 1.25 relative to GBP in the space of a month does mean that the value of my HBD holding looks lower compared to what I've invested.

When it comes to posts so far this month, it's bad. Pressure of work and a bad cold have taken it out of me, hopefully next week I'll feel more relaxed and less ill, and get my mojo back....
