The depth of the BEE ecosystem

the depth of the BEE ecosystem.jpg

The BEE ecosystem is one of the most interesting ones on Hive-engine. It's the native token of the platform with a lot of use cases. Many don't know what they can all do with it. Let me try to give you here an overview of everything that you can do with BEE's...

Workerbees the mining Token for BEE

Mining BEE's

The workerbee token is a mining token that produces BEE tokens. Every hour 20 BEE tokens are printed thanks to staked workerbees. These miners have however also other functionalities. First of all they are the governance tokens for the Hive-Engine platform.

Governance token for Hive-engine

If you have Workerbees staked, you can vote for Hive-engine witnesses. With the Liotes project, we are running our own Hive-engine Witness and we would love to get your votes.

image.png

The Hive Engine witness concept has nothing to do with the Hive witnesses. With your Workerbee stake you can vote on witnesses. There are 20 top witnesses that will get regular payouts in BEE tokens for running the witness nodes.

Workerbee DAO

There is also a Workerbee DAO. With staked workerbees you can vote for proposals to define how the budgeted BEE tokens are distributed.

image.png

There are some DAO's on Tribaldex that allow you to vote on proposals with your stakes. Most of the proposals are reward pools linked to diesel pools. If you have a big stake in Workerbees or BEE's you can decide how to allocated BEE's should be distributed

What can you do with BEE's

The number of use cases for the BEE token is actually pretty high and I will try to give a list here.

Tribaldex.blog

When you stake BEE tokens you can vote on posts with the #hive-engine tag and earn curation rewards in BEE. There is a specific front-end called tribaldex.blog that shows all the posts with the according tag.

Create tokens and all things related to them

The BEE token is the currency to pay stuff on hive-engine. You can create a token. You can make it stakable. You can create a tribe, run your own front-end, launch an airdrop, create a mining token, create a distribution pool or even a diesel pool. You can even create your own NFT's. Everything on hive-engine or tribaldex has to be paid in BEE tokens.

BEE DAO

Like with workerbees, there is a DAO in BEE tokens. If you have BEE tokens staked you can vote on proposals to define how the allocated BEE tokens are distributed.

Staking in Diesel Pools

There are plenty of different diesel pools that pair the BEE token with other tokens. There are also some diesel pools that distribute BEE tokens as a reward (often coming from the BEE and Workerbee DAO's).

image.png

There is a huge number of different Diesel Pools that allow you to put your BEE's as liquidity provider. Many of these pools come with a reward pool.

Market Maker Bot

On the website dswap you can purchase and run your own market maker bot. Everything has to be paid in BEE tokens.

image.png

The market maker bot allows you to create automated buy/sell orders on hive-engine. It's a great tool that needs some time to get familiar with. I'm running one of these bots for a project and it works pretty well.

Pay for creating Hive accounts

The newest project by the hive-engine team is DACTER which will allow you to purchase hive accounts with BEE tokens. You can read more about it in this post

Inbuilt burning mechanism

When looking at all this, I believe that the BEE token is pretty interesting. BEE has a lot of use cases and it comes also with an inbuilt burning mechanism. Each time a NFT is issued (or transferred, I'm not sure), there is a fee taken on the transaction that is sent to null.

image.png

When looking at the block explorer, I've found thse transactions for the @null account. There are quite a lot of transactions linked to NFT's that send BEE tokens to @null. This is good for the overall tokenomics.

Do you have any Workerbees or BEE's staked?

Different layers drilling down all over Hive. Thanks for this detailed explanation of the BEE system.

With all that is going on, it is impossible to keep up.

It's definitely a challenge to keep up with all that is going on on the several layers of hive. I believe that keeping track of interesting projects can help create a lot of value just by combining them together. Thanks for stopping by!

There was a time when I could keep up and have a decent grasp of what was taking place. But now, no way. There is too much happening.

Part of using Listnerds each day is it made me realize how there are pockets of people doing stuff on Hive that I had no clue about.

That is the power of a complex system. It can keep spreading into many different areas.

It would be a kind of full time job to try to keep tab of everything and still we would miss part of it :-)

Great information on the WrokerBees that I didn't know about. Still, I hold quite a bit of BEEs which are great tokens and allow me to curate on TribalDex blog. Nevertheless seeing so many use cases for the WorkerBees and Bees tokens shows that this is a good token to invest in and hold.

I believe that BEE is really a good token to hold. If you do it well, you can use the stake for several purposes.

Thanks for this! I gad no idea there was a market maker bot. Always learning :)

I have a few WORKERBEEs staked for the long haul. Slow and steady is my approach on HIVE.

There are not many people that are aware of this market maker bot and it really works pretty well. Thanks for stopping by!

There are two tokens that are worth to keep in focus. Both a pretty stable and have tons of use cases.

Great post, I recently started up stacking some BEE and I will look into workerbees as well. How muh workerbee do I need to have staked to actually have a chance in the lottery though?

There are only 20 payments every hour of 1 BEE. So there are only 240 lottery winners per day. To get average one payment per day, you need close to 1000 staked workerbees. A solution is to delegate staked workerbees to @ph1102. He runs a workerbee pool that allows everybody to get a good return on the token.

I did not know that it had so many utilities and above all I was surprised by the burning of tokens. An excellent explanation, I think I'll get more involved with Workerbee.

I actually didn't know about the burning mechanisme either and discovered it while researching :-)

I do have some WORKERBEE staked but I delegated it out to Zoltan because I don't have a lot. By delegating it out, I get more consistent payouts. I also have some BEE staked that I have gotten over time through commenting.

I didn't know about the DAO or the NFT minting costs. It looks like all of those will add up over time.

You need to have at least 1000 Workerbees staked to get on average 1 payout a day. It makes much sense to pool them together and get a regular income even with smaller stakes.

This is awesome in-depth explanation of bee ecosystem. I have some bee tokens as well as workerbees. I have 1 worker bee token. You can also stake in diesel pools. As bee tokens are cheaper than worker bees, I shall buy bee token !

It's important to understand that both tokens are directly linked together. Workerbee tokens, when staked produce BEE tokens. However, you need to have quite a lot of tokens staked to get regular payouts.

Great info and overview of the BEE token and it's use cases Achim, and it is probably the HE token that is most successful, especially long term, thanks for sharing and stay awesome.

A great source of information.
Most of the things you discussed in here are new to me.
Never know that there are other uses for the BEEs' aside from minting tokens.
Also, I just learned about WORKERBEEs from you.

Thanks much.

Hello Achim, do you know if tribaldex has tools to create distribution pools? That is, if you want to give rewards according to the staking participation of a token? Not to do it manually. Or if you know any publication or any content creator dedicated to this kind of thing. On the other hand, the BEE ecosystem is very very interesting, I didn't know even half of the things you've posted! Thank you!!!

Hi, thanks for your comment and sorry for the late answer. There is a kind of contract that is called distribution where you can define payments to a series of people. It's mostly used however to make payments to liquidity providers for diesel pools. The problem is it's not really dynamic. For my projects I'm using a script that was written for me that pays dividends according to the stake in a token. But even with the script it has to be done manually every day.

Thanks for your answer, what I need is precisely the second part of what you said, to make token distributions of the hive-engine according to staking or according to holding. I read everything I can get my hands on, especially about JSON, do you know if there is any public API of hiveengine or hive to be able to use it? Hopefully one day I will be able to do what you are talking about, thanks to my efforts. The problem is that there is a lot of opacity about it, or it seems so to me.
