Welcome To Lagos…

Life in Lagos is one of the worst places to live in Nigeria. Though there are some other places with their inconveniences too. But I can say life in Lagos is just way different, even the atmosphere there is kinda different. You can only know what I mean if you have experienced life in Lagos before.

I was born in Lagos but in a cool environment. Despite the environment, I still get to witness some of the strange and weird ways people of Lagos behave. Now that I have grown up and Lagos has also developed, a lot has changed, but the way of life never changed.

If you are seeking a state without peace, then just go to Lagos. It is just all about rough life, fake life, hustling, and survival of the fittest. If you want to enjoy your stay in Lagos then you should be ready to act crazy if you can't. If not, you are gone for good.

I remember telling my friend about Lagos life in school while we were In Ilorin. Ilorin is so calm and peaceful state, really a state of harmony. But still, he does complain at times that the ilorin is too rough. I told him that there is no rough life in Ilorin unless he comes to check Lagos when workers would start preparing for their workplace by 3 am.

He never believed me. But I didn’t argue much with him. Not until he was done with service in this same Ilorin, then when he sought employment, he got a job in Lagos. Ooh, so now it’s time to come and see for yourself the luxury and smooth life of Lagos.

After a few days not up to a week of his stay in Lagos, my friend called me to complain about how stressful his life had been in Lagos. He got sick and just started recovering, despite his sickness he still has to resume work. What pissed him off was the fact that he would have to wake up to take public transport as early as 4 am so he can beat traffic.

I smiled and said that's the way here in Lagos. Those public transporters are so crazy when they drive. It’s funny to experience driving while you're on the bus. Only a few of those Lagos drivers will make you enjoy your trip on the bus.

Most times it's either the bus is faulty or the driver just keeps managing it, some might have a good and working engine, but sitting conveniently will remain a problem till your journey is over. You might board some buses and have a good engine speed and sound, good seat, but once you sit inside it, all of the body might not be okay. There is always instability in Lagos public transportation.

If you are with a personal car, at times it would even be faster if you can start trekking to some places. But with the traffic, and your vehicle, you will have to drive patiently even if it will take you hours.

Interstate traveling by public transportation might be so annoying at times and might also be the best experience one might ever have. I have traveled a long distance by public bus. But I had to get my booking from a reliable transportation company and the journey was so convenient like I am on private transport.

In conclusion, public transport is fun to experience only if you get to board the right one at the right time, it can be as silent as a graveyard and it can also be as noisy and funny as anything.
