RE: You left a trace [EN/PT]

Would it be better to maintain someone's identity than to try to hide? A possibility, perhaps. Absence can attract attention, but just being another person? Whatever.

This made me think of Benksi - he has been anonymous for decades, but he is also 'not just a person'. I think that building a persona is a necessary part of both disappearing and also still remaining influential, or simply free to speak.

Anonymity requires planning and purpose. Otherwise, why bother? you can be a regular person incognito or completely exposed... if you never do anything but post cat-pics, you're safe either way.

The issue is that most creative people who see the world in a peculiar way, cant help but also express their views, and therefore a creative person must recognize this challenge early on, and start building their "persona", rather than building their name as an artist/writer/creator.

Of course this is just one facet... there is also all the other places where we leave all of our information... shopping sites, search engines, online banking, etc.

Question is, if we had a complete do-over on the internet, what would be the way you'd approach anonymity?

It’s about reducing noise. Less identity, less distraction so the ideas stand on their own. Sometimes being “just another person” is exactly what gives you freedom...
