Definitely, there are some rotten kids raised by absent parents. Like someone rightly said, being absent doesn't have to be about physically absent. When a parent doesn't do his duty to his or her wards, that parent is absent. The child will respond in kind with shitty behaviours.
Either way, two good heads are better than one. Raising a child alone can be overwhelming in all aspects.
