RE: Reflections on the past, present, and future of VYB (Part 1)

Currently they are rarely misused. History has shown they are rarely misused. Future is likely the same. In the extreme rare case it becomes a problem, the community already has a built-in solution already available to them.

It's a moot issue, it's like building a metal wall surrounding your house in case someone throws a watermelon at your house.

Given my current situation that says a lot I still believe in it.

Future is likely the same

That is the $64k question.

I disagree. Neither of us can prove the other wrong. Only time will tell.

I see danger, you don’t. I will prepare for the danger. If my preparations succeed, you will be a beneficiary. If my preparations fail, you will be no worse off, either way.

I am entirely unconvinced that such is the case. If a whale chooses to nuke a content creator’s account, there’s nothing the community can do to effectively stop it, other than spend their own resources to offset the effects of the DVs. Problem is, that’s painless and costless to the abuser but costly to the community, and thus not sustainable.

If watermelons are the only weapons that exist, then sure.

However, it’s not a wall around my house. It’s a wall around my entire community. That’s something worth pursuing, imho.

As always, I greatly appreciate your feedback and critical analysis.
