The PEPT Game Utility Token Test

When I join Hive back in March 2023 I spent a lot of time learning as much as I could about Hive community as a whole and focusing in various Tribal communities of interest.

It was not long before I started to buy, sell and stake many different project tokens. By July 2024, I decided that I would eventually have to address the growth of my digital assets on Hive and how it could impact the reporting of these assets to ensure compliance with financial, legal and ethical responsibilities.

So, this account and its publications will serve to inform the public on matters related to interpretaion of what constitutes an investment versus the consumption of a gaming token.

Additionally, going forward, publications from this account will address guiding principles, beliefs and purpose of The PEPT Game including consumption of various game pieces.

When you look at all the blogging authored by @fjworld it has always been made clear that the founder or its company is not seeking funding for a project. There is no intended expectation set as per any investment financial return to anyone. Going forward, more effort will be made to educate consumers of the various PEPT utility tokens. Also, effort will be made to correct any publication that is identified as misleading. However, the responsibility is not all on FJ and his company. Just because someone doesn't understand or believe in a particular project, it does not mean it is a scam. Hive seems to have some intelligent people that do not invest time to learn but somehow they are experts in protecting other Hivers from investment scams. That is 2-FA-K strange.

What is your interpretation of Hive Layer 2 tokens on Hive as it relates to being a security or utility token?

Now I am Canadian and I do report gains and losses related to crypto securities within my corporate returns. For example, trading BTC, ETH, DOGE that would be traded within a Canadian registered trading platform like Bitbuy. If you want a referral link we can both benefit.

I do not report Hive nor any layer 2 token gains and losses. For The PEPT Game perspective, these are all utility tokens consumed while playing a game for entertainment and personal development.

So what say you?

Matters not where you live. I am interested in how other countries interpret these tokens. I am familiar with USA since they follow the Howey test and is similar to Canadian compliance test.
