RE: The Things We Miss As We Grow

I keep thinking about that idea that growing up is learning how to lose: the clothes mom used to wash, living rent-free, the freedom of not owing anyone anything… and in return we gain loves that ask more of us than we ever thought we could give. Old age shouldn’t be the punishment for having lived, but the harvest of having cared well. I hope we all learn to prepare ourselves not only for growing old, but for getting there with company and at peace. Beautiful and lucid post.
