RE: The Storm, The Jammed Window, and the Night I Stopped Waiting for Help

I've always had a tinkering mindset, so most common things aren't a big deal. The biggest project I still remember was when I had to replace the alternator on my car and the dealership wanted over $1000 when the part only cost $250. My father-in-law helped me get it into his garage and we worked together to take the belts off, replace the alternator, put it all back and test to make sure the battery was charging. It took about 5 hours to do it with hand tools, but it was worth the money saved and also realizing not everything that "breaks" on a car has to be fixed by the dealership.
