RE: The Quiet Divergence: What Bitcoin's Treasury Unwind Isn't Telling You

Really sharp distinction here, "leveraged wrapper deleverages" vs "smart money losing faith" is the kind of nuance that gets lost in most headline coverage.

The point about DATs never really being simple spot-Bitcoin proxies is easy to forget, they're equity instruments with their own covenants and capital structures, so of course they behave differently under stress than the underlying asset does. Falling exchange reserves at 2018 lows while treasury companies unwind really does paint two separate stories.

To answer your closing question: I'd lean toward the on-chain accumulation data telling us more about the next few years, corporate financing cycles come and go, but coins moving into long-term storage reflects actual conviction rather than a capital-structure problem. Whether the market has already priced that divergence in, though, I'm not so sure, headline narratives still tend to move faster than the underlying data.
