Humans tend to turn inward in times of adversity and, ironically, then realise they need to find their strength from a source outside of themselves. Adversity challenges people to adjust and adapt; it means people need to get creative and inventive to survive. People become more resilient. A Utopian society would likely lead to greater complacency and stifle growth in the process. Insightful post!
