The story has elements that can make for a great Civil war thriller chase movie. The chase ending with something dull as running out of wood and water can be Hollywoodized by a dramatic crash through a town city hall, general store, a church and finally through fruit stand.

It's been made into movies in the past back in the early days of Hollywood, but westerns are becoming so expensive to make. Then they don't compete with the non stop action of today's action flicks. The only way to make it work would be to have a major crash into a city with lots of building demolished and of course, the fruit stand. Fruit stands never stand a chance in action movies!
