I see.
Even I sometimes get into political subjects, I try to tread lightly being aware it tends to be sensitive for some who are totally entrenched in their position regardless of facts. Like you I prefer verifiable facts and common sense over propaganda and unsubstantiated narratives. Personally I won't reject a person for having a different opinion as long the other behaves likewise, at least knows my position. Personal attacks would be another matter. Then we could simply be accommodative and carry on as a community. I felt it, free Speech isn't really Free speech if it isn't respectfully applied equally, even here on Hive.
Maybe I'm being over optimistic with the belief that the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts or putting on brave front in the face of Hive's decline.
