The chaos is something that we northern-europeans encounter everywhere. I mean, southern Europe is already kind of different. But it seems like the southern hemisphere is a totally different game. When arriving in Ecuador, I was fascinated how things are run here. And I was told that Africa is even more chaos.
But one gets used to everything. Or adapts. Every time I go back to Germany, I have to remind myself to drive according to the laws again. But in Germany, people know how to drive, too, which makes it easier and stunts unnecessary.

I didn't know about the name and the, quite recent history of the independence too.
We even experienced that during our holiday. Going with the flow and accepting that things don't always happen when or how you expect them to was something we had to get used to.
