I know, it's hard to be with someone who lost one of their parent.

A few years ago, my colleague/roommate lost his father. And around that time I heard in a podcast, that bereaving people are also freaked out by our silence. I remembered it, and was telling him to remember the good times with his father. I felt I did not fake my words, because I knew I was speaking from my heart so as to console him.

I think any action on our part is fine, as being present is the most important one.
