Solo builders lose not to competitors with flashier features, but to their own inability to choose a hill to die on and then actually die on it.

This is where Roger Martin's "Playing to Win" framework stops being academic fluff and starts being useful—if you use it like a scalpel, not a textbook. Forget filling out 50-page strategy templates nobody will read. For solo builders on Hive, strategy boils down to answering five brutally honest questions—seriously, you can knock this out during your morning coffee—and then immediately testing what you learned by building something real:

1. What's your actual winning aspiration?

   → This ain't about feature checklists—it's about why someone would choose your thing over doing nothing or wrestling with some half-baked alternative they found on GitHub.

4. What absolutely must you be able to do?
   (The skills you can't bluff: "Reading Hive blockchain data without wanting to throw my laptop + explaining technical stuff like I'm talking to a friend over beer.")
   → If you're lacking either, either go suck it up and learn them this week or pivot your aspiration.

5. What's your stupid-simple honesty check?
