SplinterForge is a Boss fight game that lets you use your Splinterlands NFTs in a whole different way.
Can you tell us about yourselves (@RarelyHere and @RareRaptor)? I understand that you two have been business partners for about 9 years. How did you start working together and what is your most interesting business venture outside of SplinterForge?
@rareraptor: I've been a tech geek since way back when being a tech geek wasn't cool and I have diplomas in computer networking and computer programming.
We got into crypto mining about 7 years ago and our involvement grew through defi into gamefi (Splinterlands).
As large asset holders in Splinterlands, we wanted to bring another use case to Splinterlands NFTs, hence SplinterForge 🙂
Can you briefly explain the concept of SplinterForge?
A quick high-level overview of the game is that it's a boss fight game where you, as the user, are the hero that leads a team of multiple Splinterlands summoners and monsters into battle against bosses of varying difficulty. The SplinterForge specific part of it is that you can equip your hero to make your team bigger and stronger.
How did you come up with the idea for SplinterForge?
The idea was easy, boss fights have been atop the users' wish list for a couple of years now. While Splinterlands is busy getting all kinds of awesome features released, bosses are still only vaguely on the radar, so here we are.
What is your primary goal with SplinterForge?
One of the biggest reasons SplinterForge exists, from a high level, is to add another viable use case for Splinterlands cards, therefore creating more value for Splinterlands assets and players
What aspect of the SplinterForge project are you most proud of?
We have not raised any outside funds for SplinterForge. We will not ask anyone to buy assets for the game until it is ready to launch. This is because we believe that you should have something to offer users before you accept their money.
That goes against the grain of the way everyone else does it, but we want to set an example and do something different.
Is it true that SplinterForge is almost done with alpha testing? Can people still play the test version of SplinterForge?
It has essentially been playable since the interface was far enough along to actually send a boss fight and view the result. It has slowly evolved (have already done 1 card wipe to make major changes) to what we have now.
We are in the last phase of testing right now which isn't going to last very long, anyone can get whitelisted, just have to hop on our discord and read the announcement. The official link is https://splinterforge.io/ and our Discord link is https://discord.gg/umMfWvu2v7 for all our official communications right now.
What is your anticipated launch date for SplinterForge?
Final testing is going well and we've started setting up our promo tournaments, so we are hopeful it's now weeks instead of months, stay tuned!
Here is a sneak preview of the boss selection screen from alpha testing.
