When Silence Beats Screen Light

Soon after the mobile phone, or let me say the smartphone, was introduced to every home, something changed in that home. It might not be all homes, but most homes. In the past, in most homes during a period like this when we were being served night food, it was usually followed with night stories but now, things have changed so that we now glue our eyes to our phones.

There was a time it came to my mind that it could be possible to ban phones for some hours, maybe during some important discussions, not a permanent ban though because I can recall in one of my recent posts where I made mention that I went out with my guys during the last December and where I was, I saw another group of guys pressing their phones through our stay out, because I see a big wrong in this, or is it too much to ask for attention from those who we love?

I am even guilty of this sometimes, because I have been in a situation where by someone was telling me something very important, and I was on my phone replying to another message without paying full attention to what my guy was saying.

And in my honest take, I do not think that banning a phone should feel like it is a punishment for us, it should simply feel like an invitation to bring back our sanity in situations where our full attention is needed, where we need to voice out, and even when we need to share our silence in the right way.

I know that some might say that it is their right, yes I totally agree, but having a deep connection with people also matters a lot. And like I always say, we need to balance everything up. If we can put our phones aside when we want to sleep or charge them, then definitely, we can also put them aside when interacting with people. Little things like that matter a lot and can even make our presence more felt.
