RE: Small Money, Big Lessons From My Childhood

I remember way back when my father gave me an allowance but he also gave me a few jars with each a label of what I planned to spend on; money spent with friends, personal things, and savings to start. If I needed extra cash I had to complete any chore written on a post-it-note left by Mom or Dad left on the kitchen fridge. Categories change and more jars added, but it got me to learn budgeting. If I wanted an outfit bad enough I can see it required sacrifice from other jars.
