A quick review of week one on Hive!

Good evening Hivians,

So, I wasn't planning on posting today, but I noticed it's my one-week anniversary on Hive! That means it's already a week since Operation HKZ was introduced! Still lots to be done to get that up and 'springing' though Zealy! That reminds me, I need to chase up the Kepithor Team to see where we can take things next!

For now, I wanted to take this opportunity to record my FIRST Hive Payout! I'm rich! Retiring to the sun! Ok, not really, but I have earned a little something, and since it was 'free' to earn, let's celebrate!

My first ever Hive post received its payout! 7 Days after posting, I've started earning for my content!

As we can see, the post accrued $0.324 in votes, which is split 50% 50% between curators and me as the author. The 'base' setup for Hive posts, for the author, is 50% HBD and 50% Hive Power. So, my 50% share of the votes is 0.162. Half of this is awarded in HBD ($0.082) and the rest as Hive power! Which means I'll officially have earned my first 0.4 Hive POWER!

One small step for kepisloth, one giant leap for slothkind! If I hadn't received a delegation from Operation HKZ, this would supercharge the number of transactions I could make on the chain with my power. Let's take a quick look at how Ecency shows our RC now:

With my 10HP delegation, I have 17.79 billion RC (available), which allows me to make 14 posts/comments or 241 votes. Let's claim our first-ever Hive rewards and check again! (I wonder, does claiming the rewards take anything away from our RC? Will we actually end up negatively affected by the reward claim? Let's find out!)

There we have it, I've claimed my 0.4HP, increasing my Hive power, allowing me an extra 2 votes or 8 follows, a metric I hadn't paid much attention to before, but key for forging new friendships, and building our engagement here on Hive.

That's the part I've yet to fully explore: how making connections, commenting on other people's posts, and curating content will also add to our earning potential on Hive. We'll dig into this further in the coming week! Along with comparing earnings here to Kepithor studio games, and how we can best proceed. Do we sell our HBD for Kepi tokens? Or sell Kepi for Hive Power? Do we keep everything separate and grow both sides independently, or can there be some exchange of assets which gives maximum benefit?

A quick secondary point, I'm really pushed for time now! Things always seem to spiral as we get started! Maybe I should have planned this post in advance after all!

By using hashtags on our content, and receiving some 'tipbot' comments, we've earned a small amount of Layer 2 tokens on Hive-engine! Another aspect we need to dig deeper into. What communities are worth using, what Hive-engine tokens are worth collecting/staking or selling. Lots to uncover in Hive, one slothly step at a time!
