My answer is even confusing me; whether yes, no or both. So it’s 50/50 🤭
You know the saying, “an hungry man is an angry man”? It’s true. Anybody trying to be productive on an empty stomach is already fighting a battle. Imagine a student in a lecture hall, Lecturer is teaching, but if you’re hungry, that man might start looking like a hot plate of Afang soup 🥹 You’ll be distracted and won’t assimilate. If you have debts like school fees to clear, you won’t even have the motivation to go to school, thinking go wan kpai you 😂
True, financial struggle isn’t just about food. No data to download PDFs, get class updates, No transport to school? Can’t print assignments? It tells on your academics badly. They fit later graduate leave you 😂
So should students take side gigs? Yes, but with wisdom. Jobs can distract you o but “Person wey no sabi book, no sabi book.” So don’t allow your job distract you when schooling. School should be 60% Job 40%. Because if you fail, nobody will easily remember that it’s because you’re broke that’s why you didn’t do well in school, there are many people without financial assistance except the one they worked for themselves and they excelled in their academics. And trust humans to mention people that excelled in school without financial assistance. Reminds me of a coursemate that couldn’t do a group project because of his job, and the lecturer asked him during evaluation “is this a school or a market?” So in all, not everyone cares about your struggles, their own is; do the right thing at the right time. Nobody is coming to save you; so save yourself ❤️
